Santa was rather clever this year. Rather than leaving a bunch of gifts under the Christmas tree, he instead filled Monkey Boy and The Girl’s stockings with gift cards to their favorite hot spots, and then left a few plane tickets under their tree.
He knew they’d rather spend a few days in So Cal with their cousins going to Knott’s Berry Farm and In-N-Out Burgers, than giving them anything that could have been made by elves.
Santa also gave Ernesto a 3 day “Extended Stay” pass for doing such a great job this year.
Santa gave Mavis the Gift of sleep,
And the Handsome Husband a package of Depends so he could ride scary roller coasters with his kids.
All in all it was a great Christmas filled with lot’s of food, family and fun.
Memories. You can’t wrap them or give them as a gift. You have to live in the moment to enjoy them.
Life is good.
How did you spend the holidays? Did you have fun? Get everything you wanted?
Get anything really, really weird?

Santa sent my hubby and I on a cruise to the Caribbean the week before Christmas…Then we spent Christmas day with family. Our 8 nieces and nephews (6 boys, 2 girls) were thankfully all present… get it “PRESENT”…. They are all teens and adults except for 1…. time flies….ohhhh so fast…. My sister made a video of Christmases of the past when all the kids were babes…was so fun to watch…
I got everything I wanted which wasn’t much…Just wanted JOY, Peace and Happiness this season…got my wish! π
Happy New Year!

Due to family drama, I’ve been trying hard to black out the majority of my Christmas. However, the kids were thrilled with all of their gifts, and had a really great Christmas, so we’re satisfied on that end.
Mavis says
Well, at least the kids had a good time. Family Drama – Been there done that. LOL. Sometimes it’s so bad you can’t even laugh about it. Wishing you the best in 2013.

My husband’s family Christmas is happening tomorrow…..if there are any weird gifts coming my way it will be from that bunch! It’s all good, though. π
Mavis says
Keep us posted. We like weird around here. π

I haven’t been to Knott’s in years even though it’s only 15 minutes from my house. I hope you all had a great time!
I got the gift of a promise from my alcoholic brother to quit drinking after he ruined the family party Christmas Eve. I’m hopeful he follows through with that. If he does, that will be the best gift for our family ever!
Mavis says
Oh Mary Ann,
I hope he follows through as well. Thinking of you, Mavis

Christmas was fantastic this year! The first time in a while we were just able to stay home and enjoy the gifts, food, and my favorite naps!!! Bring on the new year!

No weird gifts a peaceful day spent at home. The monkeys and HH stayed in pj’s all day. If you were in SoCal you know our weather was nice. The gang went to Knotts yesterday. I hope you all had a wonderful time while here.

Traveling for the fun of it, or was it just a strategy to make your last few grocery dollars last? ;p
I didn’t get anything too weird for Christmas, I suppose printer ink was the weirdest. But I asked for that, so I was excited. My parents and brother gave me Amazon giftcards- woohoo!
Mavis says
Ahhhh Ha Ha. Amazon gift cards rule!

I love how the wrappers for the hamburgers have little Christmas sheds on them.

I was so excited about receiving a juice extractor/steamer. I used one this fall in extracting juice from pomegrante seeds to make jelly, frozen berries to make syrups. A friend loaned me hers and I loved it. I can’t wait to see what else I can make. Might be an odd gift for some folks but I was happy. My husband loves In N Out Burger. We live in Southern ID so no In N Out Burgers here. Utah has quite a few so when traveling I think he maps out our trip according to where the burger joints are. He got a boat in October and is naming it “Double Double”! My son in law printed out the letters on vinyl for him, it even has the famous palm trees.
Mavis says
Oh that’s awesome Katrina. π

9 days in California for me too! Haven’t done our Christmas presents yet. But you’ll be hearing from me if there are or aren’t any SILPATS waiting for me when I get home! Lotta rain and cold where I am….glad you have some good weather down there.
LaToya says
P.S. In N Out twice this week for us too – ha! Gotta take advantage because we don’t have them in Idaho either. And your beloved Panera too!
Mavis says
I have a Panera story! π
Lisa says
I would rather have a family trip than Christmas presents any day! Hopefully that is in our future! Enjoy California!
