I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

I don’t know about you, but I cannot pass a Girl Scout standing outside on cold and gloomy March day with their sash full of merit badges and not buy a box of Girl Scout cookies from them. I just can’t say no.

I was a Girl Scout, I sold cookies, and I went to camp. And you know what? That one week I spent at Girl Scout Camp when I was a tween was the best summer of my life. I learned to sail, got my head checked for lice, made tiki torches out of Kotex pads, made arts and crafts, used an outhouse, slept in a cabin with no doors, and sang some really cool camp songs that I still remember to this day. It was the best summer ever!

So this week I am giving away 5 cases of Girl Scout Cookies.

5 readers will each win 1 case of cookies and they will have their choice of  Thin Mint, Samoas or Tagalongs. Girl Scout cookie descriptions.

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment below and let us know: What variety would you like to win: Thin Mint, Samoas, or Tagalongs?

Also, if you win, what will you do with your 12 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies? Eat them all? Give them away? Shellac them for all eternity? We want to know!

  15. Samoas or as our council calls them – Carmel delights. I was a scout leader for 8 years and my daughter now works in administration at Girl Scout camp. We are a scouting family and sold 1600 boxes of cookies several cookie seasons. We would freeze the cookies and eat and share through the year. What a wonderful contest!!!!

    I would hand them out to others to enjoy as a wonderful smile for the day but…I would have to keep at least 1 or 2 boxes for me, my hubby and daughter.

  47. Definitely thin mints! They are so delicious when straight out of the freezer, no joke! So straight into the freezer for two packs and then rest would be shared with my sisters in law who share an equal love for them =] I haven’t seen one Girl Scout yet this year. Usually they are in front my local grocery store but so far, no luck! Hopefully they’ll be out soon.

  48. Oh, baby! What a giveaway! I bought two boxes a few weeks ago: thin mints and tagalongs. All the way home I kicked myself for not buying the samoas. I like to make homemade blizzards with samoas, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup. Peace out, Mavis!

  52. Samoas are the best thing ever. I will take the first box and lock myself away from the kids and eat the whole thing. I will take a second box and hide it for later. I will then give a box to the kids. And the remaining boxes I will take to the community garden on our spring clean up/opening day and bribe the people to help us get it all up and going!

  57. Decisions, decisions. Thin mints or samoas — my two favorite cookies on the planet! I would have to go with Thin mints because they are the “bomb” when frozen!! I guess I would have to share with my family and my neighbors though, if I won an entire case!

  58. Mmmm, I love all three flavors! But I do believe I would choose thin mints because they remind me of my mom, who I miss so much! If I won I would put some in the freezer to keep for a little while, and the rest would be enjoyed by all the household members. We are going through a tough health crisis right now and girl scout cookies would do a bit of cheering up during a sad time.

  62. Hi, thanks for doing this giveaway! I would take Thin Mints or Tagalongs. I guess Tagalongs would be better because both my husband and I would eat them, whereas he does not like Thin Mints and I don’t want to be greedy (although they really are incredible)! I would keep a few boxes, bring some to work, send some with my husband to his work, and give some to my parents and sister (my in-laws probably wouldn’t want them but I would offer anyway). 🙂 Yay for Girl Scout cookies!

  70. Former cookie pusher from Troop 27 reporting in! Man, I would sell over 500 boxes each year. Girl Scouts was such an important part of growing up. I would share some of the Thin Mints with my husbands co-workers.

  71. I’ve always felt left out when girl scout cookies are discussed. Everyone has their favourites, and I have never tasted any kind! 🙂 Samoas sound sinfully divine. I’d probably eat far too many myself, and then I’d start handing them out to people, starting with my elderly bachellor neighbour whom I’ve already managed to pile large amounts of baked goods on in the 6 months that I’ve lived here.

    If I was lucky enough to win a whole case I would be sharing them with the nurses & patients at the Cleveland Clinic’s Outpatient Cancer Center. I spent last summer & fall there undergoing treatments for my leukemia (in remission as of Dec. Yes!)
    I head back there once a month for a check ups with my oncologist & I would love to be able to bring a smile to faces with boxes of cookies in hand. Some cookies for some “tough cookies”!

  75. Thin mints for sure! Purely to score some extra brownie (oops, I mean COOKIE) points with my wonderful husband. That way he will be more understanding of what I need for my gardening… 🙂 And for good measure I bought him a hammock today. I can see it now, he is lying in his new hammock snacking on some yummy thin mints ……

  87. Wow! Mention Girl Scout cookies and this site blows up! I used to be a Girl Scout, also went to camp, and got to be a Brownie leader for my daughter when she was little.
    I am trying to choose between Thin Mints and Samoas….I think the Thin Mints are winning out, but…. As for what to do with them? I would share some with the family, but a lot of boxes would get hidden around the house, and what the family doesn’t know, won’t get them hurt. 😀

  88. Thin Mints! Yum, yum. I’d share some with my friends and put the rest in the freezer. Thin Mints are good even when frozen.

  90. Wellll…I have always loved the Trefoils for their simplicity. Shortbread is one of those universal cookies that goes with everything. Dress it up with tea in fancy china cups or go everyday and dunk them in coffee. Either way they are divine. I’d keep a couple of boxes for myself and pals (so we can have a little tea party) and share the rest with under-appreciated crew of the Guemes Island Ferry and the volunteers of Skagit County District 17 Fire Department who give so much of their time, put their lives on the line for their neighbors and do it all for free.

  92. Tagalongs for sure. Nothing beats chocolate and peanut butter together. My family would eat some and my husband and I would share the rest with the teens in the youth department at our church. They are always hungry!

  112. The family has voted for Tagalongs. I would have to take at least a couple boxes to the church lady quilters, we quilt for Lutheran World Relief, plus the local crisis center and Hospice or Habitat for Humanity fundraiser. Plus I would take a couple boxes each for Soup Supper dessert and our turn for Sunday School snacks. Let’s see that would take care of half of them, if we keep two for our snacks and I hide a couple for the Christmas cookie stash, we can give a couple to Grandpa who is a real cookie monster.   135. I would take any of them; any girl scout cookie is great. I prefer mint but husband would probably like Tagalong’s better so would choose that. We would share. These would be a welcome treat since we are cutting back and have pretty much eliminated things like cookies from budget.

  145. Is it sad that Thin Mints and Samoas are the only GS cookies I’ve ever eaten? When I love them both so much, you’d think I’d be more anxious to give other GS goodness a taste. Either of those would make me ridiculously happy, though. And it would probably look better to my husband if I won a case instead of went out and bought myself one. My boys and I would drop some off to the local homeless shelter, too. There would be plenty to share.

  148. Samoas. My boyfriend has been having problems with an upset stomach and I read somewhere that coconut cookies help with this. He’s been eating them for three days now and it really does seem to help. Who knew? He’d love these.

We have all bought from someones daughters this year and magically at least every couple days a box of GS cookies is left in the lunch room for all to share.

  173. Thin Mints! My daughter is no longer a Girl Scout so we’ve lost access to our favorite cookie. We sold them the hard way (door to door) to 200 apartments – none of this taking the form to work stuff. I don’t miss helping her take orders and make deliveries but I sure do miss the Thin Mints!

  240. I sold cookies for 12 years and went to summer camp for about 6 years (I think). It was a lot of work and my Mom put up with a lot of cookies in her garage for a long time. My favorite are the Caramel Delights (made by ABC Bakers), which are basically the same as the Samosas (made by Little Brownie Bakers) but taste better.

  241. Thin mints! I would send the whole case to my mother, who loved those the best. She was my first girl scout leader way back when. And she was always my daughter’s best customer. This was the first year for a long time that we didn’t have a house full of cookies. Daughter has grown beyond that stage and we will have to wait another 10 years or more before I can start buying from her potential daughters.

    I was a Girl Scout from Brownies to Seniors. (Daisies hadn’t been invented yet.) In junior high school, I sold enough cookies to go to summer camp for free in South Carolina. The camp was infested with Copperheads. Luckily, our counselor was an expert snake killer. Cool memories!

  270. Thin mints! My youngest was a Girl Scout and we spent many a cold day selling at Fred Meyer.
    She went to camp in her tween year, too (12) and I went along to cook…..and cook…..and cook! Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just 2 of us Moms in the kitchen….from sunup to sundown!
    I have to say the day went by fast, and we were much appreciated. Everyone said it was the best food ever!
    We slept in the “bird’s nest” I had a lot of fun!!

I guess the thin mints would be the way I’d go because some of the people I would share with might not be able to eat the peanut butter. I think I would keep one, okay maybe two boxes for myself and drop off a few boxes to the veterans at the local VFW (they have a lot of great programs where they work with some that are having trouble adjusting back to civilian life, so there is always a lot of people coming and going). I also think I would take some of the boxes to a local group home. The kids there would think it was a real treat.

  363. If I had to choose which Girl Scout cookie I would most like to OD on, it would be Thin Mints. It was my dad who introduced me to the wonder of Thin Mints years ago when I was a Girl Scout. They were his favorite and I’m sure I came near the top sales for my troop for his order was likely my largest! 🙂 It wasn’t until years later when I offered him Cookie of the Month club (I would make him a batch of cookies of his choosing) that I realized how much he enjoyed them. He requested Thin Mints for ALL 12 months! 🙂 I scrambled and found a Martha Stewart recipe that struck his fancy though they were LOTS of work.

    If I win the case of Thin Mints, I would relish one box mysellf one by one (I’d have to freeze them to make the joy last), each with happy thoughts of my dad who is gone now. The other boxes I would send to those who loved him, sharing the story, and maybe igniting a passion in someboody else.

  427. I’m in my 60s and I still remember going house to house selling Girl Scout cookies. We weren’t allowed to sell in front of stores in my town back then.

  453. I would use my case of Girl Scout cookies as prizes for playing “Wack-a-Weed.” The winner wins a cookie…Wack-a-Weed is the game I made up that gets my 6 year old to pull weeds with me. The goal is to pull the most weeds and once the bucket is full you well “Wack-A-Weed.” So far it has been a very productive game between the Veggie Garden, Flower Garden, and our driveway. Just don’t tell me son that he is working. So in a nutshell this will be used as currency in my plot to keep my garden weed free. As far as choice, any would do, but Samoas and Thin Mints are both quite a hit in our house.

These cookies invoke fond memories of my childhood and remind me of what a great role the Girl Scout organization played in my life.   609. Troop 1369 doesn’t eat their product 🙂 My girls end up donating 150 boxes of cookies to Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras, the local fire department and our locale police department. It would be nice to win a case of thin mints just for them. A box for ea. of my girls and the volunteers who give up 5 week (Fri., Sat. & Sun.) to have winter fun watch the girls reach their personal cookie goal.   613. OMG!!! THIN MINTS, who doesn’t love Thin Mints. I would hide one box away in my freezer…nothing better than a frozen Thin Mint in the dead heat of an Alabama summer. The rest I would take to my office. I work for a non-profit, so sugary treats + underpaid but very dedicated staff = Happiness All Around!

  616. Oh Thin Mints!! I love them the more than any cookie. I will eat some, freeze some, and they always go in happy mail to my son who is in the AF. Thin mints have went to Mississippi, Alaska, and the middle east. He loves them. And of course some will go to my daughter and grandkids in Michigan!   621. My husbands favorite is thin mints!!! I too was a girl scout and a leader for my daughters troop. I loved everything about girl scouting especially the summer camping – I went every year for 2 weeks until I was 16 (10 years!!) Forgot about the kotex tiki torches LOL!

    I am going to go with samoa’s these bring back memories of my dad and I sitting in his big chair after dinner and sharing a box. I also love thin mints but I think I am going to do the Samoa’s in honor of my Dad.
    I was also a girl scout and loved it. I learned alot from my Leader I am thankfull that she was the type that just liked to have fun, camping, hanging out in the Kitchen. I find that I use alot of what I have learned during that time of my life all the time.
    karen Johnson Jones, I just want to say thanks for being a Scout Leader for all the years that you have been involved. If it was not for my wonderful leader I would have never seen how much fun camping and fishing could be, and learn the life skills you do learn.

    I would totally choose Tagalongs and I would eat them all myself. Probably in only a few days. And I would likely make myself sick and vow never to buy them again, but then I’d repeat the whole process the following year.

  659. I think the Samoas and like any of there cookies. They will be some taken here as a grandma….and teens living here and there friends passing through…they wont last long. Then some will be donated to friends who are down on there luck and struggling to get by…would seem like a bonus dropped from heaven……Thanks! for given and thanking of others.

  664. Choose me. Although I am not making history, without girls scouts I couldn’t be married to a soldier and raising two girls in rough military times. Never regret a minute I spent in a girl scout meeting. Warm memories of my childhood come from girl scouts.

  686. Thin Mints are #1 in our house, maybe because we’re Irish and cookie season is in March!? Both daughters were Girl Scouts and I was a leader so we would have lots if ideas for those sweet little cookies. Of course the best use is to open a roll and share them with friends!

  693. I would LOVE to win a case of Samoas!! They are totally my favorite! However, I’m on a new diet that prohibits cookies of any kind. :'( So I would instead love to win a case of Thin Mints and I would mail them to my boyfriend’s unit in Afghanistan. I don’t think they would last long there!
