Yesterday The Girl and I were in Mt. Vernon for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The Bellingham Farmers Market wasn’t to far away so we decided to stop by and check it out.
Mary from Hammerhead Coffee Roasters left a message on facebook page letting me know she was excited about opening day at the market so The Girl and I set out to find her. And we did! Hi Mary! It was nice to meet you in person.
As soon as we took this picture people started swarming Mary’s booth so we went and checked out some of the other vendors while Mary served up some freshly brewed coffee.
Check out this succulent wreath. What a beauty! I need to make one of these! I have a wire wreath in the garage so maybe I’ll try and whip one up with some leftover succulants from the Sedum and Succulent Living Wall Planter I made last week.
These succulents were so tempting. I wanted to snatch them all up.
Looking for a mushroom kit? Cascadiamushrooms sells them for $15 at the market or $18+ shipping online. You can also find mushroom kits on Amazon if you’re not local.
The Girl and I dropped $1o on a gigantic loaf of bread to enjoy with tonight’s dinner — Beef Stew. I’ll show you the picture of it tomorrow.
I had no idea fairy could make balloon animals. Did you?
More local, fresh produce.
There is not doubt about it, farmers markets rule! There is always something new and exciting happening at the market and you can’t beat the fresh produce, funky arts and crafts and cool vendors who stand outside in all sorts of weather selling their wares. I love them!

Our farmers’ market won’t open for another 2 months. So lucky for you that it’s open now!

Random thought– have you considered selling any of your vegetables at a farmer’s market? I’m sure people would love it! 🙂
Mavis says
Since I do this for fun, I’d rather donate our extra vegetables and let those who grow to sell make money. I would hate to take away from their profits because I know how much work it is. 🙂

I so enjoyed seeing the photos of Bellingham. I grew up in Bellevue and attended college some 40 years ago in Bellingham. I must get back. I live in the bay area now and love the long planting season. Feel free to visit me on Facebook for a slide video of my garden.

I’m from Bellingham! I’ve spent many an afternoon at that farmer’s market. I live in Vancouver now. It feels kind of surreal seeing one of your favorite blogs write about your hometown. 🙂

So happy to see photos of B’ham, our home town before we moved to Fircrest. I forwarded them to Katie in Korea for a visual taste of home. Thanks so much!
