fair Warning: I feel like all of my food pictures this week were taken in 1970. Seriously. I don’t know if I accidentally hit some sort of time wrap filter on my phone but all my food pictures remind me of orange shaggy carpet and wood paneling this week. I’ll have to have The Girl take a look at my phone and see what the heck I did. I don’t know about you, but I totally had to help my parents with electronics when I was a kid… so I guess it’s just the natural progression of things, right? 😉
Anywho, thanks to Mrs. HB we had delicious soups this past week. A delicious chicken and vegetable soup and a bean soup that lasted for two days. All I had to do was heat it up and toss some crackers on a plate. It was pure bliss. I now know why people sign up for all those food service plans that will deliver cooked food right to your door.
We are still working on that giant bag of fettuccine nests from Costco! About that bread… A couple of weeks ago I snagged a marked dog loaf of garlic french bread at the store. In it was 4 pieces of bread. So, instead of baking it all at once, I just take out a slice {really, 1/4 of the baguette} and stick it under the broiler. That way, not only does the bread last longer but we don’t eat too much or have leftovers sitting in the pantry to go bad. I don’t know, it’s something small, but still.
My husband declared this the best dinner ever. Beans and weenies with a side of mash. Total boy food.
And there was also that frittata that the HH said I overcooked {I thought it was fine}.
And chocolate chip cookies. I can’t forget those.
Fred Meyer $9.28
To prevent scurvy, I popped by Fred Meyer to pick up a sack of clementines $3.99. I couldn’t pass up the $0.99 peanut butter and cream cheese either so I tossed those in my cart as well.
And then there was my trip to the dollar store to grab packing tape and envelopes. Have you been to a dollar store lately? Seriously, I saw stuff in there that would have been priced double, if not triple at Target. Stocking stuffers, tins, just enough molasses to make cookies with and not have a giant container sitting in your pantry for a whole year until you needed it again, coconut, GLUE STICKS {those were $2.99 at Target the last time I was there}. AWESOME DEALS on the small stuff. Have you been lately? Did you find anything good?
It was an easy week, just the way I like it!

Am I the only person who watches the DIY youtube videos for Dollar Tree items?
I am not crafty, but I really like this cardinal DIY and the leaping reindeer DIYs.
Unfortunately, San Diego doesn’t get the really “GREAT” Dollar Tree items.
(for ex. I haven’t seen the cardinal bag or the leaping reindeer stickies)
It would be nice if Dollar Tree had a “good” on-line website where a person could order “just one” of an item (instead of the crappy “bulk” website they have now), and could order things they want instead of hoping “someday” the item comes to their store.

I need to utilize the dollar store more. There really isn’t one near me (right? they’re everywhere) and I seriously hate to shop. Also, I am not sure what is in there and I don’t want to get caught buying stuff I don’t need. I try to use amazon and Wlamart the most, but will make getting to know them a priority this year in my quest to save!

I bake my frittata and seem to overcook it less frequently that way!

I got the 5 jars of peanut butter for $5 at Fred Meyer this week for the food bank! What a terrific deal!

Oops, I mean last week for the peanut butter. My bad.

We love the dollar tree. My kids say they feel like they are rich when they go shopping in there because they can spend their own money on Christmas gifts for everyone. Recently I found a bottle of face wash at the dollar store that I really loved. It smells, looks, and works just the same as my old facewash for a quarter of the cost.
