It’s still a wee bit chilly in the evenings so we keep the 3 week old baby chicks in the house during the night, but come early morning Lucy and I trek outside to place them in the chicken run.
I could tell it was upsetting Lucy to have her babies so far away, so around lunch time I take the chicks out of the coop so the puggle princess can check on them and give them a few sniffs and kisses. And it’s pretty much the cutest thing ever.
Sybil, our Lakenvelder Silver is by far her favorite. And Sibby loves her too.
Mary, the Cuckoo Maran is a total snob and really doesn’t want any affection bestowed upon her. {Shocking, I know}
And then there is Edith. Our Brown Leghorn. She’s a firecracker and an escape artist to boot. When it’s time to collect her every night she gives us all a run for our money. So far, Monkey Boy is her favorite.
She sure is a looker though. 😉 Isn’t she gorgeous?
Who knew a dog could love chickens so much? I swear she’d be living in the coop with them if I’d let her. 😉
Have a great tuesday everyone,
~Mavis

So sweet! I love the Downton sister names for the chickens. 🙂

I can never get enough of Lucy! Dogs don’t lose their maternal instincts when they get spayed so I am not at all surprised.

I am loving your post’s about Lucy and her new favorite friends. This totally fascinates me. All of the dogs that I’ve ever owned would definitely have tried to eat the chickens! Is it just her personality or the breed, do you think?
