Have you ever stopped to notice that there is a holiday {or day of observation} dedicated to just about everything? Holy buckets, if we actually go to celebrate every single one of them, it would be one non-stop party. Still, it seems a waste to not at least pay my respects to a couple of the top contenders {I’m talking to you National Donut Day!}
This year, I’ve picked a couple of my favorites each month to celebrate. Maybe I’ll hang streamers, maybe I’ll send cards…maybe I’ll just go ahead and pour myself a tall glass of whatever we’re supposed to be celebrating. Afterall, life is short, and our National calendar is full. Let’s make the most of it, shall we?
Seriously? National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day! I do this everyday. I don’t need no stinkin’ holiday. And, for the record, it’s pretty shabby that this monumental day of pajamas falls on a Saturday. For my peeps who have to actually get dressed to go to work: You. Got. Robbed.
In case you are working, though, I DOUBLE DOG DARE you to wear your jammies to work day. It would be unpatriotic not to.
Need a couple of distracting fun facts for you boss? I got you covered:
- The word “pajamas” is derived from the Persion word, “payjama,” which means leg garment.
- 31% of men in the U.S. and 14% of women don’t wear pajamas at all to sleep. Yep, they sleep in the buff.
- Until the late 1800’s, most people wore their clothes to bed.
- Flammability standards for pajama fabric for children {age 14 and under} were introduced in 1971.
- The world record for the largest footed pajama party {my invitation must’ve gotten lost in the mail!} was set on March 11, 2012 in Austin, TX.
Now what are you waiting for? Slip into something more comfortable and get out there and celebrate!

I’m being patriotic without even trying! Working OT today and I totally came to work in my jammies. Makes it easier to get up early on a Saturday morning and go to work when I want to. Thankfully I dont work with the public 🙂

Best National day ever! And April 16 is my birthday! I double dog dare myself to wear my pj’s to work next time April 16 falls on a work day.

I totally don’t believe that 31% of men sleep in the nude.
