Hi Mavis, In the past year or so you mentioned a paint color that you have used that always seems to work no matter the room, do you recall the name of the color and the brand of paint that you used.
Thanks, Nancy
Yes! Nancy my favorite go to color is Hopsack paint by Valspar. You can find it at Lowe’s. My friend Girly Girl who is an interior designer who helps put together custom and model homes uses this color religiously. I also recommend using Floetrol when painting to avoid brush strokes {if you are painting trim}.
Hi Mavis, I was wondering if you could possibly do a segment on all of your go to type of recipes and what I mean by that is your basics like tortillas, pancake mix, bread, broth, rolls etc. I follow you all of the time but I wanted to print them and have them hanging in my kitchen in one place like inside of a cabinet. Thanks, I am really just too lazy to look them up!
~Marilyn
Sure, no problem. Here are my top 9 go to recipes:
- Flour Tortillas
- Crusty No Knead Bread
- Cinnamon Rolls
- Fried Rice
- Pancake Mix
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Quiche
- Chicken Stir Fry
- Nutella Banana Muffins
Have you tried the receipt hog app? I was thinking of doing it but I would love an honest review from a trusted blogger first 🙂
~Lara
No. And honestly, uploading every single receipt would not only drive me bonkers, but I don’t like the idea of yet another company {other than my credit card} knowing EVERY purchase I make. To me, uploading grocery receipts occasionally to iBotta is one thing, but every receipt for every purchase? No thanks. But maybe other people have tried the receipt hog app. Anyone care to chime in?
Have a question for me? Submit them HERE and I’ll try to answer them.
Have a great weekend everyone,

I have never used Receipt Hog (never heard of it actually!), but I found out this morning that Amazon has signed a contract with the CIA to share all the purchase data of consumers on Amazon. So, if you don’t want people knowing what you buy, you might want to avoid Amazon.
Kinda creepy, but I guess that is how people sell your info these days.

I used receipt hog for a while. Its legit, it pays out, but it is tedious to upload your receipts in my opinion (but its not any more tedious than any other app that asks you to upload receipts). So I don’t use it anymore.

I use receipt hog, everyone tracks you with loyalty cards, credit cards etc.. so that part doesn’t bother me. It takes about 2 seconds to snap the receipt and you get paid for doing it. I work more than full time, have 2 kids, a big house and yard to care for and I really don’t think a thing about doing it. NOT a big time sucker and again you get paid, I call it free money.

I’ve been using receipt hog for quite awhile and really like it. Getting points towards amazon cards for something i just toss works for me. You get surveys fairly frequently when you use the app that help you rack up points faster.

I use Ibotta and Receipt Hog, and I find the receipt thing tedious but ultimately worthwhile. I also use SavingStar, which links automatically to your different store rewards cards so you don’t have to upload receipts. They often have freebies, and they have a “healthy offer” (produce rebate) each week.

I’ve used a Receipt Hog for over 2 years and I love it. It’s easy to upload receipts and it pays out at higher loads, i.e. 4500 points is $30 at Amazon. It also has slots after your first receipt upload each week by which to win more points and build payout quicker. Sometimes I do surveys as well and earn points that way too. Because they now accept more than just grocery store receipts, I earn quicker. Brilliant part is I use a Ibotta, Checkout 51, and Saving Star which allows me to use my same receipt across multiple platforms so my rewards are sometimes tripled plus points on Receipt Hog. I don’t find it onerous or time consuming.

Ibotta is getting on my nerves. Unless your receipt has a bar-code on it, it doesn’t read it very well. Which means when you shop at Publix a lot. Ibotta kicks those receipts back again and again.

I’m liking Ibotta so far (should be able to claim my first gift card this week), but have mostly used it at Pick N’ Save, which has it tied to the store rewards card, so if you link your account, you don’t have to take a photo of the receipt. So I think that’s a big convenience factor.

I have receipt hog and really like it. I never found Ibotta to work for me. I would spend forever looking for things that had rebates and hardly find any. It takes me far less time to upload receipts than to sift through rebates I’m not going to use. Plus, with receipt hog, you don’t have to worry about what you bought, you just upload it and they give you points.
