I’m not going to come right out and say I have perfected the Rice Krispie Treat but, who am I kidding, I totally have. The secret is to use the real Rice Krispies and not the knock off brand and to cook the marshmallows and butter on LOW heat. Don’t be tempted to jack the heat up to speed up the process.
Once you’ve perfected the Rice Krispie treat, the possibilities are endless. Like these totally adorable and simple basketball treats. You’ll be the coolest team mom or snack bringer ever. And it’s so easy! My kind of treat.
6 tablespoons butter
8 heaping cups of mini marshmallows
10 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Orange food coloring
In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Keeping heat on low, add marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted. Add food coloring and stir until blended. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal.
Form into balls and wrap individually with plastic wrap. Draw basketball lines on the outside of the plastic using a Sharpie. Tadah! Cutest treats on the planet.

I keep the flame on low as I start to mix in the Rice Krispies. I find it allows the yummy butter/marshmallow mix to coat more evenly across the krispies, plus it’s easier to stir!

Do you just cover in saran wrap? Not tie it off or completely seal it with anything? I have such a hard time making saran wrap fully stuck and hold.

Yep. YOu could always use a wee bit of tape if you need to.
