Last March while The Girl and I were traveling around Maine checking out lighthouses and small towns we stopped for gas and happened upon Boulangerie Bakery in Kennebunk. If you’ve never been to Maine before, be sure and put the quaint town of Kennebunk on your list of places to see when you visit.
Boulangerie is exactly what a bakery should be. Cozy and welcoming. And filled with simple and delicious offerings.
The next time we are in the state I plan to take the HH there for lunch and go home with a loaf of one of their specialty breads.
No fancy pastries, just crazy good bread, cookies, muffins, hand pies, quiche, soups and salads. If I owned a bakery, this is exactly what I would want it to look like. Homey. And a the perfect spot to meet friends for lunch or a for an early morning breakfast meeting over a warm croissant and a cuppa.
When we arrived, this gorgeous handmade table was packed with locals. It was only after they left that I was able to snap a quick picture before it filled up again.
I ordered their brie and tomato baguette. The Girl had one of their chocolate cupcakes and both incredibly good.
Boulangerie Bakery. The next time your in Southern Maine be sure and stop by, it’s like going to a friends house, only instead of a couch and tv in the living room there are side tables and yummy food for you to buy. 😉 Ahhhhh…. I can’t wait to go back.
