Turquoise Hand Knotted Necklace with Cross from Kathy Alderfer
I love giving homemade or handmade items at Christmas, but if I took the time to make as many gifts as I’d like, I’d have no time for sleep {it’s overrated}, cooking dinner {the family would revolt} or even this site {would you miss me?}! So I turn to Etsy. Etsy is to showing, what Pinterest is to telling. It’s where thousands of the coolest, most talented humans on the planet come together to sell the most awesome handmade stuff.
Recycled Wool Dolls from Sighfoo
I have an Etsy shop too in hopes that all those talented people will somehow rub off on me! You can check it out HERE. But that’s not what this post is about. It’s about YOU and YOUR Etsy shops!
Rainbow Patchwork Postage Stamp Baby / Crib Quilt from ZoeDawn
You see as I was surfing Etsy the other day, admiring shop after shop, it occurred to me that I probably have hundreds of readers who have shops on Etsy that I’d love to know about. And if I’m going to give anyone my business, it makes perfect sense to give it to all of you who show up here to support me.
Egg gathering apron from Yoder Sewing Room
So now’s your chance to promote yourself. If you have an Etsy shop, leave a comment on this post with the link to your shop and tell us a little about what you sell. With the holidays right around the corner I would LOVE to be able to feature some of your items in a Mornings with Mavis post.
Don’t have a shop but have wanted to start one? Here are my tips on How to Sell on Etsy. Check them out and see if Etsy is the right fit for you.
I’m so excited to see all of the hidden talents my readers have!

Mavis, I love that you’re doing this.
My boyfriend and his friend have been working hard to get J&K Hempworks up and running.
They’re a small, local business in Maine using natural products (mostly hemp oil based). Their etsy page currently only has two lip balm flavors available (the hempamint is my favorite!) but they’re adding more flavored balms soon (orange and vanilla) and soaps are also in production. I’d love to get their name in circulation and hope this is a good opportunity to bring attention to their business and all of the hard work that they’ve put into it! Thanks for thinking of homemade goods 🙂

I LOVE Etsy ! It is my go to place when buying gifts as I always find fabulous unique items. I have also been able to help my kiddos with college because of my modest little shop. I still amazes me each time someone , with the vastness of the internet, finds me and chooses to spend their hard earned money on things I make. I can’t wait to see who else following you here is on Etsy making and selling! Thank you for helping promote handcrafted, handmade, and small businesses. https://www.etsy.com/shop/LaughRabbitJr

Hello, Mavis! What a wonderful idea! My husband’s etsy shop has grown from a hobby to the primary income for our family of 5! He sells Ampoids – Hand wired amps that will tickle your auditory nerves. So basically he builds tiny speakers in empty Altoids tins. One model connects to your phone/MP3 player’s headphone jack with a cable (it’s included), allowing you to share your music with the room. The other model is an electric guitar amp, allowing you to play your guitar in unexpected places. My husband’s inspiration was a tiny guitar amp that had been built into a cigarette carton that allowed him to play his guitar at sea when he was stationed on a submarine! He designed the circuits for these little speakers and chose a more family-friendly and sturdier home for them in the Altoids tin, and they have been a success! Thanks so much for promoting etsy shops! Love your blog – it is inspirational to me in so many ways, from gardening to canning and beyond.

I’ve been crafting all my life, it seems. One day I read a quote somewhere that said something about just taking a chance and doing what you’ve been hesitant to do. I opened my Etsy shop that very day. I’ve had various things in it, with varying degrees of success. Right now, I’m featuring some cute amigurumi patterns for crochet as well as polymer clay fairy doors, which I just cannot keep in stock.
I love giving handmade. There are certain people on my gift list who just understand what goes into something that you’ve made especially for them. They get handmade gifts for every gift-giving occasion. Then there are those few who just say, “Well, I could have bought this for a lot less than you probably spent to make it.” They get gift cards.
Please take a look at my shop – PinkChihuahuaCrafts. If you see something you like but the colors aren’t right, let me know and we can talk about a custom order.
And thanks, Mavis, for promoting handmade!

Life had finally settled down and I was getting back into… And now I have a baby on the way so ceramics are in the backseat again! I have to travel to a group studio about 45 minutes away… So production is lacking right now. I do have a wheel and a kiln at home, in my garage, but and plans for a home studio build are on hold for the moment.
Anyway, I mostly sell what I don’t have room for at home in a shop locally. But I would like to expand my audience since some of my themes are a little more for special buyers.

Hello, my name is DeAnn.
I run two Etsy shops that are very different other than two things. First, we are both completely handmade! (yeah!) And Second, we both offer totally custom items for our customers in order to get them just exactly what they are looking for.
For example. http://www.GreenGranny2014.etsy.com is an 18″ doll clothing store that specializes in upcycled / recycled / repurposed clothing and accessories (including SHOES)! This shop is a joint partnership between my mother (the seamstress), my sister (the cobbler), and myself (business manager, marketer and customizer)! In addition to making all these wonderful doll clothes, this store donates ALL of it’s profits to help purchase fleece and flannel that is used to make blankets for the homeless / in need / and shut-in nursing home patients every winter. To take a look at all the special items in her store please go to http://www.GreenGranny2014.com
Then, after I got that business rolling well, I started my own! I build barnwood frames out of century old (often falling down) barns in the local midwestern states. I harvest the usable wood from the farms, sort it, clean it, trim it into usable boards, and THEN I start the building process for the frames and other home decor items I make. This next summer I even plan on selling board feet of usable barnwood to crafters wholesale on Etsy Studio (it’s something fun to learn). To see my work, please go to http://www.FramesInBarnwood.etsy.com – And thank you all so much for sharing your passions and excitement here!!!
