The first month or so of school is always smooth sailing, but it never fails, about 6 weeks in to a new school year my kids always get sick… so this year I took preemptive measures and put together a little care package for The Girl. Now that she will spend all day in class, and then be cramped into the dorms with the same people, I can’t imagine that she’ll escape getting at least the sniffles.
I thought a little gesture from home might go a long way. Speaking of long way, since I had to ship it, I needed stuff that wasn’t perishable or meltable, so no Popsicles :). I included:
- Jello
- Applesauce
- Saltines
- Chicken Noodle Soup
- Vitamin Water
- Ginger Ale
- Vitmain C
- Tea {The Girl’s favorite}
I hope that even just getting the care package will make her feel better.

It. Never. Fails. This is my son’s second year and my second time of sending him medicine and “feel good” food and snacks! As soon as the first sniffle starts the whole dorm is sick! I love your packaging, Mavis! Lucky my son isn’t in to all the pretty packaging so I just click and have amazon ship it for me. Thank goodness they sell everything under the moon!

Can you ship me a care package? Man, you are one awesome mom. My kids are little and we are a long way from college or such, but you inspire me.

Good Lord, my daughter started 4K two weeks ago and she’s already had 2 colds, a fever of 102, and pink eye(s). Yikes. I guess I should start stocking up for college care packages now, lol!

I did similar things for my kids when they went off to school. It was always tough to pay more for shipping than I paid for the treats!

I know. 🙁 But it;s kind of fun to be able to personalize a box full of goodness too.

Great ideas for the sick package. When my son went off to college I didn’t send soup or tea but did send Nyquil and Kleenex and hand wipes. He did ok but his roommate (who had NEVER been away from home) got really sick. My son asked what he should do and I told him—call his folks! He needed more hand-holding help than my son could give him!!

Pretty sure you’re the best mom ever. How’s she liking school?
