Everything about these little nuts scream holidays to me. The smell alone makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and want to sit around the fire singing Christmas carols {okay I never do that, but it seems like a Christmasy thing to do}. Beware though if you make these to set out for holiday guests, your neighbors will start lining up at your door because the delicious smell will travel down your street!
Ingredients
1 tsp olive oil
1 lb unsalted peanuts {you can use almonds, cashews or pecans here instead if you’d prefer}
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tbsp five-spice powder
1 tsp salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 300 F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with olive oil and set aside. Mix egg whites and nuts until peanuts are coated. In Zip baggie, shake to mix the sugar with the spices and the salt. Drain the nuts in a strainer and add them to the bag. Zip bag shut and shake to coat the peanuts with the spice mix.
Spread the coated nuts in a single layer on prepared cookie sheet and roast, stirring occasionally, for about 40 minutes. Cool and serve.

Would you add cinnamon to this or is that included in the 5spice mix. I’ve never used it so I was wondering.
thanks,
Jen
