People are SO AWESOME.
Really, they are.
I’ve been blogging for 8+ years now and so it’s pretty rare to come across a comment that upsets me. Or makes me laugh out loud so hard my son comes running down the stairs to see what’s going on. Really it is. Pretty much nothing shocks me anymore.
Blah blah, yada, yada, yada…
RememberΒ Christian Buddhist Guy?
He gave us all a good laugh.
Now, it’s been a few years, so I’m not sure if he’s been reincarnated or what, but the comment below was left by someone named Gaia yesterday and I just had to share.

Note: The portion that I blocked out was the name of a serial killer.Β Now, I’m not sure how she equated Lucy to a serial killer,Β but clearly, she’s new around here.
Keep on Truckin’ … and give your furry friend a hug from me. π

My Goodness! Sad state of her affairs if a cute little doggie upsets her so much. If I could I’d put every dog’s picture I’ve ever had or known on here! Then she could see how wonderful our canine friends are! My 2 cents.
Teresa says
P.S. I wanna see your dog everyday!
bobbi dougherty says
me too!
Emma B says
well can she tell you how she really feels?? LOL, I love seeing Lucy everyday and you can show us more of her. the great thing is that person doesn’t have to look at your blog, if she doesn’t want to see Lucy!!!
Tracy says
Well I for one love to see Lucy pop up in my feed everyday. You just have to feel sorry for people like that that have such a sad life they can’t enjoy something so simple as a happy dog.
Jen says
Oh my goodness, rude. You don’t have to read the articles on this sight if you don’t want to, you know! Sheesh, it’s Mavis’ blog, that she pays for and maintains, she can put on it whatever she wants. People need to realize that life doesn’t revolve around them.
Rhonda says
I agree with Jen!
Barbara says
Mavis, this is just a sick person-sad. I look forward to seeing Lucy everyday, but then, I love animals! Don’t even give this one person ‘s remark a second thought!!
Blair says
If she doesn’t like seeing pictures of the dog on the blog, why does she read the blog? why not just read another, non-dog friendly blog? it all seems much too simple….oh well, you can’t fix stupid.
Lindsey says
Ditto what Blair said.
Christina says
That person doesn’t want to look at any of my social media pages. I have the worlds cutest German Shepherd, chihuahua, a new rescued beagle puppy, a rescued cat, chickens, bees and racing pigeons. I am posting some animal every few hours. If you don’t like it don’t look. We love seeing Lucy!
Lisa Millar says
That’s pretty funny – people are so weird.
Seriously – that person can make her own blog and make a point of not posting dog photos. π
I love seeing what Lucy photo pops up in my inbox each evening – I get your first post just before I head off to bed and she is so adorable – easy to go to bed with a grin.
I think I would agree with April above. Have to feel sorry for someone who actually gets so upset about dog photos on someone elses blog that they CHOOSE to read, that they have to write and complain!! I wonder how miserable their life actually is???
Now I have to go and read about the Christian Buddhist Guy because I have missed that one and I need to know what that is all about! π
Em says
Well, the “good” news is that he or she… REALLY LIKES YOU, MAVIS!
Unrelated to this post, but related to your blog: I will be making Meyer Lemon Marmalade this evening, if I can get my empty jars collected and cleaned!
Linda says
Luckily, there is a fix for that person. It’s called “keep on scrolling “. I personally like your blog and its content.
Tracie @ SomewhatAwry.com says
I agree completely with Linda!
Delores says
I just don’t understand why people will do that — there is no one making him/her read your blog! Personally, I enjoy the pics! They make me want a puggle! π
Joilette says
I LOVE seeing Lucy everyday. It’s one of the reasons why I check in daily. She always makes me smile. π
Julie C says
I love seeing your dog! I had never heard of a puggle before reading your blog. After seeing Lucy, I fell in love with puggles and decided I needed a puggle in my life. Then about 6 months ago, a friend had a pug that she needed to re-home and I adopted her instead. Not quite a puggle, but pretty darn close. When I’m ready for another small house dog, I will be looking for a puggle :). Even my vet recommends them. He says they are one of the only “designer” breeds that he thinks breeders got right.
Sheila says
Haha! He/she should write their own blog so they can see what they want. Rock on Lucy!
Jeanie says
People probably feel that way about my Facebook but there is a clear solution to the disdain where my Shadow and Clementine are heavily featured! I will never understand why people leave responses like that. Keep on featuring Lucy! I love her puggle-greatness.
Tammy says
Oh my word, too funny. I don’t understand people who continue to read blogs, follow Instagram, Facebook pages, etc. that have content they can’t stand! When I read a blog and I don’t like it, I don’t follow it! And when it gets to the point where I don’t like reading certain blogs any more, I just stop following them and don’t bother with reading them anymore!
As for sweet Lucy – I am not a “dog person” and only discovered that I have an allergy to dogs two years ago when we decided to get a dog so our daughter could have a pet. (Unfortunately we had to find a different home for her because of my allergies). I say all this to say, I LOVE seeing pictures of Lucy. It truly warms my heart.
And I love your blog! π
Tammy says
OK so it reminded me of this hilarious video:
https://youtu.be/Y0lMGC-rmOk
RebekahU says
π This calls for SO MANY MORE Lucy pictures and stories!!! AND maybe even a Lucy banner that constantly appears on your site. OR even better, a pop-up Lucy that says “Show Me Some Love” like your newletter sign-up gizmo. π
PEOPLE!!!! Some are funny. Some are not. Some are wound up a little too tightly…
Love you AND Lucy!!
MEM says
Exactly! Too much Lucy is never enough! I like the way you think Rebekah.
RebekahU says
AND!! One more thing! CLEARLY they did not read your KINDNESS post a few days ago!
?????
Kimberly says
Oh good grief! It never ceases to amaze me when people think they have the right to dictate what you should or shouldn’t be posting on your own blog.
Tracy T says
Wow – Gaia needs to move on down the road. That is the nicest thing I can say to them.
Mrs. C. says
More Lucy and her babies! I love my daily dose of Lucy Puggle!
Carolyn says
I just think of your cute dog as a nice generic picture to go with your writing.
Crystal says
One of the reasons I read your blog, is to see how Lucy is doing — what she’s up to now. Please keep the Lucy pics and stories coming. Love her!
Becky says
Oh, come on. Lucy’s adorable. Also, it’s YOUR webspace. You can put whatever you darn well please on it.
Maxine says
Lucy’s my favorite!!!
This person goes by “Gaia”?! I think they’ve missed the meaning of the word?
I hope they’re just having a bad day and life improves. As they say in the South “Bless their lil heart”
Tracey says
I like seeing Lucy every day. She doesn’t have to read your blog. Then she wouldn’t see Lucy and wouldn’t have anything to complain about.
Katie says
I may or may not come to your blog just to get updates on Lucy…
Linda says
Lucy updates are my favorite! Keep up the great work, Mavis!
Lesley says
I love seeing photos of Lucy the Puggle Princess. I always scroll down to check she is in your post first and then return to read it from the beginning. I like to linger over her photos a little as she looks such a darling. Don’t change your posts and keep lovely Lucy in!!
Jennifer says
Then she should just find another blog to read. Good luck finding one as comprehensive and down to earth as yours, but she has bigger problems.
Sharon says
And to think that yesterday I was going to post a comment about how much we had to learn from Lucy’s tender concern about her “babies” – reaching out across species to protect the vulnerable from harm. You two (Lucy and Mavis) keep doing EXACTLY what you do – makes the world a teensier better place to be …
Carol says
Agreed!!!!
Martine says
Personally I’d have made sure the first thing on the next post after the comment was a huge picture of Lucy!! Why does this person keep reading your blog if they don’t like what you put in it! Stupid doesn’t begin to cover it! Love your blog and all you put in it. x
Holly says
Love Lucy and love your blog.
Nancy D says
Yup….still thinking you should make and market a “Lucy” calendar! You’ve got all the many seasons and holiday shots of her. You could always list all the photos and let us vote. Just sayin….
Brianna says
Wow! Looks like someone has a dark relationship with dogs. What fueled their fire to make such a ludicrous remark? Apparently I couldn’t understand their poor grammar and metaphor between Lucy and a monstrous serial killer, but whatever statement they were trying to make I pray they find peace with themselves. Gaia needs a big puppy kiss and hug. I wish you, Gaia, all the best on you internet trolling and attempts to break Bloggers down.
I love looking at Lucy daily, she is funny and full of love and knows no hate. If only people could be just as happy as a dog is everyday. Forgive, forget, and move on to better battles.
Marcia says
More puggle pics!!
Seriously, two of my neighbors have pugs and I love them so much.
Linda says
I want to see more pictures of the puggle princess, she puts a smile on my face every day. She’s such a little puggle to have the family she has.
Emily says
First and foremost……GOOD GRIEF! Blog reading is OPTIONAL…..if you don’t like it, don’t go to their blog.
Second… Lucy is the bomb dot com. I think for the foreseeable future you should change your posts from Mornings with Mavis to Mornings with Lucy (feel free to thrown in the Downton Ladies also just for shiggles). That dog is the definition of awesome, and she gives us all joy to see and read about her.
Keep on truckin’ indeed.
lynne says
you took the words right outta my mouth, so need to repeat! :-). I so look forward to the pic of Lucy everyday!! Even if i’m feeling grumpy, cuz it’s snowing out in my neck of the woods right now, a picture of Lucy will immediately bring sunshine again!!! GoLucyGo!!! LynneinMN
PeggyK says
I look forward to the Lucy posts every day. Something s missing when she isn’t around. And I especially love the Puggle Princess with her babies. Your blog is your own and you can post whatever you want. People do’t have to read it. Sometimes people just get to me – that person is certainly having a miserable day and probably miserable in general. Keep the posts and pics coming1
Colette says
I love your little Lucy, I have a female boxer too and I love her and enjoy her so much. She is my baby ! I also enjoy your blog, read it every day and the first thing I do, is looking for Lucy’ s picture….your garden, your baby chicks, your recipes, your good ideas, all is interesting and fun to read. Thank you, keep on blogging….
Mimi says
Some people just don’t have enough love in their lives and they need to shout it out to the world in their own special way.
Carry on. π
Sue says
Don’t change anything! Love Lucy and her babies it’s the sweetest thing to read and see.
Maggi says
it’s your site….you post what you want and people can look or go elsewhere. i myself prefer kitties but i never met a cute dog i didn;t like. you baby is gorgeous and deserves to be seen and adored as much as possible.
Pam says
Lucy makes me smile! Keep on posting Lucy photos!
Amanda says
Lucy is as much a part of your blog as you are! That makes me think Gaia is either a VERY new subscriber or perhaps feels crappy today and wanted to try and bring you down with her. Either way, she’s definitely in the minority here. I don’t think, I KNOW, that there are people in this world of all kinds that are NOT happy unless they are making someone else miserable. When I meet them and see it, I NOPE right out of that potential relationship right away. And when they want to know why, I have no problem telling them. They usually don’t believe me, but that’s ok. I know I’m telling the truth lol.
So, Keep Calm and Lucy On!
Carol says
Post all the Lucy photos you want, Mavis…..I love her!!!
Becka says
I’m not even a dog person, but I thoroughly enjoy reading about Lucy’s exploits and seeing her pictures.
Tracy says
Mavis, we may disagree on the aborration that is volcano mulch around the base of trees, or even about when budget scrutiny just becomes an obsessive anxiety coping behavior…but make no mistake:
Lucy. Is. Perfect. And I cannot get enough of her.
Doni says
More Lucy! Less Gaia!!
Sandy says
You know what this means? MORE LUCY PICTURES! You know how sometimes you can block people’s faces out in a photo — generally children — and people use smiley faces? On your blog only Lucy faces. On everyone. All the time.
It’s the right thing to do Mavis. The right thing.
Heidi says
You are awesome Mavis, and I strive/struggle for your ‘let it roll off the back” attitude.!
joely says
Lucy and you, Mavis, are rock stars. You know when you’ve truly made it big when you have haters, LOL! Seriously I find it sad that people can be so nasty. Life’s too short to be mean and unhappy. Carry on puggle princess!
Camie says
I love your blog-a lot. But, I have to confess that some days I just skip to the photo of Lucy with the quote of the day under it and read nothing else. I think she is adorable!
Carolina says
The votes are in and with mine, it is pro-Lucy 58. I was just thinking earlier how I wonder what Lucy is thinking all of the time. She always looks so quizzical, like she is taking everything in, and figuring out how things work. And her with the ladies of Downton Abbey!!! She is such a little Mama to them. I can’t have a pet, as I travel too much, but I get vicarious joy from seeing what the puggle princess is up to every day. My mama used to say, when someone was negative, “Consider the source.” In this case, you just got a negative comment from an anonymous person on Lucy. Thank you for letting the rest of us weigh in on this—LUCY IS THE BOMB DIGGITY!!!!
Linda k says
Lucy is why I read your blog. I work with dogs every day and come home to one. I love dogs and love seeing people interacting with them . Keep it up
samantha says
HI Mavis. This person got exactly what they wanted, which was attention. I feel like it’s a new mental disease. If you’ve looked at the comments on some youtube videos, or livestream chats on youtube or elsewhere on the web, there is a growing contingency of disturbed people who feel it is totally justifiable to write something either way off the wall and confusing, rude, or just downright hateful with the express purpose of getting attention ( commonly referred to as trolls). Just look at how many people jumped in to defend you! No normal person has problems NOT watching something they object to.
Just to clarify, I love Lucy and everything you are willing to share about her. π
bernadette says
Wait, there’s a dog on your blog? Weird. I only see you & your family.
Emily E. says
Ha- I feel like your next post needs to be nothing but the puggle princess!!! Literally no words and just picture after picture of the dog. OR, continue with different topics , but instead of posting a picture related to your post, just keep showing pics of the dog!!! Anyhow, I enjoy your blog, dog and all. Glad you are able to laugh it off.
Debbie Bailey says
Sorry, I’m with Gaia. I don’t need to see your dog everyday. I have two of my own who amuse me, I don’t need to see yours. I follow your blog because I live in the same town as you and have seen you around.
LauR says
Lucy makes me laugh! My husband is even reading to see the piglets pix and quote of the day. Keep them coming and keep Up the good work!
JoAnn Moran says
Please ignore the crazies. She doesn’t have to read your blog. It’s not an assignment. I love your blog. Don’t change a thing. BTW I love Lucy!
Katherine says
Yikes! She/he is obviously a cat person and can’t be trusted π
Jenny Young says
Just scroll past the dog people!
Some of us actually enjoy seeing the dog, reading the quotes, ect. I look forward to Lucy’s sweet innocence & never tire of hearing about her. She has her own fan club!
Life is much too short to get upset over innocence. If it bothers you that much you’re spending way too much time online & need to get outside & do some yard work. Seriously.
Heather says
<3 Lucy! If the dog bothers that person then maybe they should read someplace else. Lets face it, it's YOUR blog, they can GTFO. π Heck one of my pups has his own facebooK!
Cyndi says
What irks me most, is that Gaia somehow felt it okay to speak for everybody else when she stated “NOBODY wants to see your dog”. Her opinion is just that, HER’s. And it is clearly not the opinion held by the vast majority of your readers (if not all the rest of us). I too look forward to the daily picture of her, and am always a little sad when you are travelling and we don’t get our daily fix.. I am especially loving the latest puggle chicks pics.
Long live Lucy!
Kathy Gardner says
All I know positively and absolutely for sure is that I would much rather have dinner with Lucy than that poster! Lucy is a star!
Lissa says
Block the b$&@%. As one brilliant reader put it: Keep Calm and Lucy On! Love it, love Lucy and all you do!
Jan Kuester says
My favorite key on the keyboard is called for in this instance. It’s called “DELETE”.
Give Lucy a smooch for me.
Mary Howe says
I love seeing pictures of Lucy !!!! If that horrible person doesn’t like what you post, they don’t have to look at it ! DUH !!!!
Tami Lewis says
While my kids don’t read your blog they sure like seeing Lucy’s pics daily. I even show them to my dig if he’s around! ( he fancies himself her beau) ( all right, maybe that’s just me)
At any rate WE LOVE LUCY…more pics please!
Lynn says
Lucy’s personality pops on screen. I love Lucy! (Sorry, couldn’t help myself.) Keep her pics coming, Mavis!
Melissa M. says
Princess Lucy, I enjoy seeing your sweet face everyday. Don’t let the haters take my sunshine away.
Lisa MTB says
Somebody had a bad day and needed to find something to complain about on the internet, I imagine. Anyway, the majority disagrees. We like the Lucy posts!
Linda Bick says
I love β€οΈ Lucy ! Furry hug given!
D'Anna says
Hey, I was there with you at that other site, diving in dumpsters for inserts, during remodels, kids growing up, chickens, and when you brought that puggle home so YES, I wanna see that dog every day π
Vy says
Awwww, how can you not love Lucy? Bah to mean people. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.
Katy says
Gaia is the name of the earth mother or something like that. Ignore this crap. Fur babies are the best part of any day.
Melinda says
Oh my gosh! I missed reading your blog yesterday. I usually never miss it. Seeing pictures of Lucy the Puggle Princess gets me through my day until I can go home to my Puppy Princess! Don’t stop!
Janet says
Mavis, I’ve been away for a few days and just saw this post. I, personally, love seeing and hearing about Lucy. Nasty is never in season. Rock on, you two!
Tracy L. says
Me too, me too!!!! I’m just catching up on missed days. I also love seeing Lucy. It’s because of seeing you with Lucy that we got a dog. And we LOVE her!! I love seeing Lucy with her babies, and seeing her personality. Keep the pictures coming!!!
Linda says
Mavis, your blog is the only blog I read faithfully everyday. I think you are a laugh riot and full of great ideas. Lucy is adorbs. If there is no picture of Lucy that day, I am very disappointed. Please keep up the good work!
