Quote of the Day “As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.” ~ Denis Waitley

When we lived in the Northeast really hot days meant trips to the library, the local pool, or other water source, Crock-Pot meals cooked outside, sitting on the porch ( I miss porches), sleepovers for the kids in the living room. My mom and dad always had air conditioning in their bedroom as my dad worked shift work but our attic room was a bit hot. Wash clothes from the freezer, sitting in front of the fan.

High temps in eastern Oregon this week…Wednesday: 102, Thursday: 106, Friday: 103. We get started with chores & working horses, gardening, etc. very early in the morning. Once the heat runs us in, we eat lunch, do desk work, house work, Bible study & take a short nap. The nap allows us to work & chore in the afternoon/ evening until the sun sets. We have no a/c, just open up the house in the evening to let the cool night air in and button it down in the early morning. We usually have only a few weeks in the summer where it’s this extreme. We are very thankful we don’t have to deal with the humidity!

So hot in Oregon this summer. Why did I move from the coast?
Coping with lots of iced tea, frequent trips to the air conditioned library, and moving from patio to front porch following the shade. No AC of any kind or shade trees so very challenging! This too shall pass.

Thank you for the relish recipe; it looks yummy!

Live in Arizona so, high of 113 everyday with a low of 93 at night…. We don’t stay cool here! At least not outdoors….. Even the water in my diving pool is 92 degrees! We do have 90% shade cloth and mister system for our chickens and they are pretty happy.
