Quote of the Day “It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.” Stephen Hawking
Hello Wednesday! Lucy had a marvelous day rolling around on the grass and I haven’t hooked anything in 3 days! Who knew there would be so many little things to get done before packing up and heading out? On the agenda for today:
- Do laundry
- Pack
- Clean out car
- Procure road trip snacks
- Take Lucy for a long walk
- Download a ton of podcasts for the trip {anyone have any good suggestions?}
How about YOU? Do you have anything exciting planned for today?

Not a podcast, but the HH and I started listening to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books when he had eye surgery. Each of them is many, many hours long– you could be set for days if you can find it for borrowing from your library (online, of course.)
Cait says
Brave Little State, a fun 30-ish minute podcast about VT.

I have been following you since you started this blog. So enjoyed it and can’t wait to hear about you and your family’s new adventure. Like you, I do very little couponing compared to what I used to do. I now purchased the kind of food that there really are not coupons for, but I sure kill it in the health and beauty area!! Thank you for sharing your family with us.
One question, can you help me figure out how to find the daily deals from Amazon? That is one of my favorite features on your blog and I would love to be able to figure them out on my own.

Love to listen to Dave Ramsey on long drives. Have a safe trip. Enjoy the bakeries.

I’m kind of a nerd and love crime podcasts. A (sometimes) disturbing but really interesting one is Casefile, a more light hearted one is called Criminal. Criminal talks about everything like how there is a black market for venus fly traps! Other random ones not crime related, This is Love, Death Sex and Money, Dirty John, Mortified, Radiolab, Frontline Dispatch. Some of those are longer like 1-2 hours each episode, and others are short like 15-20 min. I listen to a lot of podcasts at work 🙂

Noticed the cinnamon on your deals & wondered if you’ve ever purchased 4%? It is totally worth it for the depth of flavor.
Katelyn says
I second the recommendation for Dirty John – I’m not big on true crime but that one was gooooooood. I also love NPR’s Plant Money; Freakonomics Radio (their recent series on the secret life of CEOs was amazing), Stuff You Missed In History Class, 99% Invisible, Radio Lab (and its Supreme Court-focused spin-off “RadioLab Presents: More Perfect) and lastly, the ESPN 30 for 30 Podcast series is surprisingly wonderful, even to a person like me who doesn’t really care about sports. The stories are so human. In honor of your move to New England, I’d recommend you start with “Yankees Suck!” 🙂

If you like the spooky, Lore podcasts can’t be beat. Amazon prime now has a the videos of them. Tells stories of strange stories and the background behind them.
Magen Speegle says
My go to podcast at the moment is the Sporkful (their tagline is “not for foodies, but for eaters”) and it’s so fun. I also listen to RadioLab regularly.
Sheila says
Try a few podcasts by The Minimalist by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus. They share their story of coming to live a minimalist lifestyle. It is so motivating and fun to listen to.
Geunita W Ringold says
I love podcasts for trips and have a repertoire I listen to. The Joe gardener show with Joe Lampl, A Way to Garden with Margret Roach, Living Homegrown with Theresa Loe, It’s a Doggy Dog World, Healthy Living with Angela Busby, Pioneering today with Melissa K. Norris, The Modern Homesteading Podcast, and The Urban Farm are just a few of the ones I listen to on a regular basis. Mine are about gardening, homesteading, and pets. They definitely help pass the time when I am traveling.
NCJill says
I’d highly recommend the sorta awesome podcast. Very informative, educational and plain ol fun!
Sally says
My favorite podcasts are the lazy genius and the next right thing.
Jennifer P. says
I love to listen to Seattle’s Kitchen, Your Last Meal, and Geek Wire podcasts.
Beth says
We love Myths and Legends. He researches myths from around the world and retells them in more modern language. Nice voice!
Lauralli says
NPR’s How I Built This. Interviews with entrepreneurs who hit the jackpot. Michael Dell, Kate Spade, guys who started AirBnB, Kickstarter, Five Guys, Whole Foods, etc. I think your whole family will love it–mine does!
Kayla says
Not a podcast- but an audio book suggestion: Refuse to Choose by Barbara Sher (or the prequel: I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was). Maybe from the library (electronic)?
Ashley says
I’m a longtime reader nd so excited for your move. I moved from NYC to the rural Midwest almost two years go. Yes, there was some culture shock but now I ma loving it. For podcasts, I love Reply All… it’s about the impact that technology can have (good and bad!) A great episode to start is #79,Boy in Photo or #56 Zardulu.
