Quote of the Day “Morning is wonderful. Its only drawback is that it comes at such an inconvenient time of day.” ~ Glen Cook
Wowie Zowie yesterday was exciting! The Girl ran the Boston Marathon and not only did she get a PR, but she qualified for next year’s race as well. The poor kid was a total popsicle by the time she finished and even though I threw warm clothes and boots on her she was still shaking 15 minutes later as I was in line getting her a hot cocoa in Starbucks with about a million other runners.
Some nice lady gave up her seat and set The Girl up with some hand warmers while she waited, but HOLY COW MAN…. the side winds and pelting rain was pretty fierce yesterday.
I think Lucy is having sympathy pains for her this morning! 😉
Have a great Wednesday everyone, stay warm.
♥ Mavis

I would love to hear more about the Boston Marathon. I had 2 friends running yesterday, and they both said it was brutal. Congratulations to your daughter, what a great achievement!

Congratulations to your daughter Mavis. I hope she has thawed out by now and enjoying a very deserved rest.
How is Mrs. HB? I miss hearing about her adventures. Do you think she’d add a post to your site now and then?
It’s snowing here today, but the sleet and freezing rain have exited, at least for now. Definitely not greenhouse weather and my plants are beginning to complain.
Mavis Butterfield says
She said she was going to send in some garden photos, I’ll have to ask her.
Linda says
Congrats to The Girl!! Do you think she would be willing to do a guest post on marathon prep and how to train for a marathon?
Mavis Butterfield says
Maybe, I’ll ask.
Yankeegal says
Huge congrats to the Girl! I have a daughter who has done multiple marathons so I know how hard she worked to accomplish her goals. And I can’t remember a worse marathon weather wise in recent history…so extra bonus kudos to all who participated!

Congratulations to The Girl! Way to go! I had the radio on yesterday morning and heard about the weather conditions for the marathon. I thought about your daughter most of the morning. Being a former athlete, I was sure she was running, no matter what. I sort of felt like I was cheering from afar. So glad to hear that she finished, set a PR and can go for it again next year. That’s just outstanding.
Diane says
PS: Thanks for letting us know how she did.

Mavis, how exciting you have so many mature plants. Blueberries are the best. Good call on chopping down the beastly berry plant. Ain’t nobody got time for that!!
Becky says
The first picture maybe peonies?
Gwen says
Looks like Autumn Joy to me. It’s like a succulent and blossoms late summer. I love them!
Elise says
Congratulations to The Girl! I was in Boston at the end of last week (spring break trip for us), and remembered that she had been training for it on the move East. I thought of you both 🙂
