Quote of the Day “Every summer has a story.”
Hello Thursday! Well, we all survived yesterday. The house didn’t burn down, Lucy didn’t even notice the fireworks going off outside and cooler weather {80’s} are in the forecast for tomorrow. Yippee! Life is good. 🙂
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone. Peace out.
♥ Mavis

I grew up in Columbus, GA. Middle of the state, all the way over to the dividing line of AL/GA. To say that summers were hot, is like saying water is wet.
Some people (those that were not poor, like my family), had fans, even air conditioning (this was the middle 60’s). We had one fan. A big, loud box fan that was used in every room that Mom was in during the day, and at night, my parents bedroom. We, sister and brother, nothing but an open window. We survived. But, I do remember the misery that trying to sleep brought on. During the day, we were outside playing our brains out. Who cared that it was hot, humid, the air full of gnats and mosquitoes?
I still don’t take air conditioning for granted. When we have a power outage it’s a great reminder of how wonderful it is!
Oh, and it wasn’t until I was in high school that we got a window unit air conditioner. In one room. The kitchen/dining room.
What doesn’t kill you…

Shari, move over a little from Columbus into Alabama to the big lake that’s where I am and I can say it’s stil hot, hot. Growing up we had the big box fans and attic fans that drew air threw the house.
My mother’s canned, also in that heat. Your right if it doesn’t kill you you get tough, couldn’t do it today.
Looking back on those days….good times, good times.

Yep, we were all soooo much tougher then. I forgot about our big attic fan in a 15 room OLD, two story we lived in during my teen years. Great in the beginning of summer. By mid and late summer, not so much!
