Quote of the Day “Always believe something wonderful is going to happen.”
Lucy doesn’t know it yet but TODAY IS THE DAY her babies arrive!!! She is going to FLIP out when they get here I just know it. The galvanized tub will get set up this morning in the sunny office space so she can keep an eye one them. I have a feeling she’ll be out there all day too. Ahhh Spring. It’s the best, isn’t it? So much hope, so much re-discovery. I love it.
Other things on today’s agenda:
- Plant petunia seeds.
- Iron the 11 yards of fabric I picked up yesterday. {I’m gonna make some curtains y’all! Giddy up}
- Maybe do meal prep, but probably just eat random things out of the fridge.
- Work on getting quiche and crouton recipes written up.
- Continue work in the garden. It never ends. Isn’t that awesome?
How about YOU? Anything good planned for today? Tell us! We want to know.
Have a fantastic day everyone,
♥ Mavis & Lucy

I LOVE reading all your posts about gardening! I live in extreme SW Minnesota and this seems to be the year spring forgot. We had 5 inches of snow this past Sunday and are under the gun for 6 more inches this coming Saturday into Sunday. The running joke around this area was about renting jack hammers to break up our frozen ground to plant our potatoes on Good Friday…which didn’t happen! Hearing about you working in your garden and your plans for planting inspire me to stay positive and know that someday soon I’ll be experiencing those joys!

Awwww….Lucy’s Babies!!! I can’t wait to see pictures! We are currently waiting to see if one of our eggs will hatch (should be any day). Started with a clutch of 4 that we marked and as we get to the end, we are down to 1! The other 3 have completely disappeared…with absolutely no trace of shells, yolks or anything! And there is NO WAY for a predator of any sort to get in there! I wonder if any readers have an idea?
I’ll bet you post pictures tomorrow!!!

Ummm YOUR GARAGE! Looks good in my kitchen don’t you think? 😉

Mavis we hear all about the work you are doing since the move but I’m curious how the Girl and the HH are settling into life on your little New England farm!
Bonnie Schmidt says
Mavis,
Please tell us what state you moved to! I am so jealous over those wood floors. What are they made of? I want to live there, too. We definitely don’t have floors like that in Florida.
Mavis Butterfield says
Pumpkin pine wood floors. The widest board I’ve found so far is 19″ wide. I LOVE them!

We (Wisconsin) are still under snow like Trava from Minnesota . I would have to shovel snow to get into the garden. Very unusual for mid-April. And we could get more snow end of this week. We are setting records for cold and snow ! My seedlings are doing well and need to
be transplanted into larger containers. We had a lot of tomatoes from a neighbor last year-have canned over 300 jars-so are only growing a few tomatoes. Does anyone let their garden rest every 7 years ? I think it is my husband who wants the rest ! I do rotate the different vegetables. I am growing a lot of herbs with hopes of selling fresh herbs at our local marketplace. Fresh herbs ,except for parsley and basil, are hard to find. Hope there is a market for them.

Here in Quebec it is not time to plant seedlings, they will freeze! I sowed seeds for 20years in my burbs house and had great success! Here in the city not so much! I can’t figure out the soil….a lot ofbare root plants die. I’ve had more success with a fully grown plants.
