Did I ever tell you I’m on a committee? Well, I am. Although due to security reasons I’m unable to tell you anything specific about said committee. But I can tell you that when the discussion came around to providing dessert for 600 people, what they had done in years past (sheet cakes and bottled water) simply did not excite me. Because really, sheet cakes are crap. There is nothing exciting about a sheet cake from the grocery store. WHAT.SO.EVER.
So what did Mavis do?
She spoke up and said “You know what would be cool? If we served fancy cupcakes instead. It would be sooo much more exciting than boring old sheet cakes from the grocery store.”
Yes Mavis, that would be cool, but who’s gonna bake 600 cupcakes?
{Obviously they don’t know anything about my run ins with the Crazy PTA Lady}
“I’ll do it”
There was dead silence in the room.
Luckily, the El Presidente of said committee looked me straight in the eye and said “Mavis, it’s all yours”
I smiled. {I won! Yipee I get to make 600 cupcakes}. Then I proceeded to send a text message to my neighbor Mrs. Active Wear telling her I just signed the 2 of us up to bake 600 cupcakes.
She of course sent back an obscene message… she has the mouth of a sailor that woman.
But guess what?
Mission Accomplished.
For the record: We actually baked and decorated about 750 cupcakes, in just under 9 hours flat. I seriously think Mrs. Active Wear and I should turn pro.
