Over the weekend I stopped at 4 garage sales. 2 were total duds but two of the garage sales were fantastic. My first stopped netted a lamp for the guest bedroom, a cutting board and a funky end table that I plan on spray painting white and using in my office space. I think I’ll set the printer on top and place all my binders and magazines in the slats when I’m finished.
At another sale I picked up a coffee table in the exact stain color I was looking for! The coffee table was $30 and it matches our sideboard and dining room table {which is just off the family room} perfectly. The seller was kind enough to throw in a cute coffee sign {which I hung above the pantry door} for free.
On the way home from checking out garage sales I stopped by The Home Depot to scope out the discount rack and scored a bunch of perennials for super cheap!
I was able to pick up 6 Salvia plants for $1.50 each, 12 pink Carnation plants for $1.50 each and 3 Tickseed plants for $2.50 a piece. It was a good day!!
How about YOU?
Have you been to any cool garage sales lately?
Does your garden center have a discount rack too?

Growing up we had a table like yours where we stored albums with the record player on top. My mom painted ours pale green. Saturday nights she let us push back the cream colored rug in the living room so we could dance with our friends on the hardwood floor. AND enjoy popcorn with bottled coke bought just for Saturday evenings! Seeing your neat find brings back some good memories!

Oh dear. I went in for some mulch and potting soil, and I walked out with what I cam for, plus tomato cages, a post to hang a hummingbird feeder, and two hanging baskets. I have an addiction.
I planted a bunch of punkins and melons, some beans, kale, and bunching onions. The kale seeds were 5 years old and are sprouting like crazy!

What great finds … you go girl! I especially like the lamp and the funky end table. And yes, our local Lowe’s has several clearance racks in the back of the garden center where most everything is less than $2. It’s my FAVORITE place to find sad little plants that need some love. The ones you scored look to be in pretty good shape … yay!! 🙂

I found 4 little tiny aloe plants on Lowe’s clearance rack that were so small, the cashier refused to charge me for them. Now they are all flourishing, with a diameter around 2 feet across. I wish I could plant them outdoors, but alas I cannot.
Lowe’s rocks!

Those look like some great finds! I just want to mention that HD sells a lot of plants that have been treated with neonecintoids, an insecticide that kills bees. I’ve found (recently) that HD is putting in tags that let the buyer know if the plants have been sprayed. While I appreciate that they are informing the consumer, I wish they didn’t sell these plants to begin with. Neonecintoids are contributing to bee colony collapse. I made hubby return an olive tree to HD because it had been treated, and didn’t want that in our garden. Just something to be on the lookout for when rescuing/buying plants for your garden
Brooke says
That was exactly what I was thinking. I no longer buy any plants at HD or Lowes because of that.

Oh wow Brooke – I had no idea. Thanks so much for sharing that info. Now I’m armed with questions for the garden center folks on my next visit. This. Blog. Is. Awesome!!

You don’t have to publish this but wanted to let you know that you have been misspelling “dining” – the word does not contain two n’s. At first I thought it was a typo but I’ve noticed it a number of times so I think you are probably misspelling it unknowingly. Thought you would want to know!!
