You know how I love a good DIY project, and when that project involves re-purposing things I already have, I love it even more. If you don’t have a crafty bone in your body, this project is for you. No, seriously! This project was so simple and took all of 10 minutes to complete. Pretty much makes it the perfect Christmas DIY project!
Christmas lights
Tomato cages
Rubberbands
Directions:
Flip tomato cages upside down. Place rubber bands around the ends to hold them together and in place. Wrap Christmas lights around the tomato cages, starting at the top and ending at the base.
Plug trees in, sit back and enjoy the glow!

I have made these before, this year I made them with deco mesh and lights, they turned out better then I thought they would . Easy, takes about an hour , 100 lights and 2 large rolls of mesh.

I made a version of this using silver tinsel – just wrapped it around and through the cages then secured with a few twist ties. They sparkle in the sun – yea, I know, what sun today? None in Bellingham today that’s for sure! And the best part, for me anyways, is that I don’t need to run electrical out to my flowerbed – which is at the roadside in front of our garden. When cars pass by at night they reflect nicely too!

This is great! I am traveling for the holidays and daughter isn’t coming home from college so didn’t want to go the whole decorated tree route. But that wasn’t feeling very holiday-like. This might do the trick. I’d put mine indoors as a faux tree.

I bet you could even connect some pine branches to this fun craft too! 🙂

I’ve made these also. They are easy and look great! Also, if one of them gets stolen (I live in the city) I’m not out a lot of money.
