I think it’s pretty well established here that Lucy the Puggle Princess is a wee bit spoiled. After all, she’s our first dog and we kind of treat her like a mini human.
She is allowed on the furniture–heck, she even has her own bedroom. I’ll admit, I love it when she curls up on the couch next to me. I love it even more when she finds herself a comfy spot to nap while I go about my business. She has her run of the place, without doubt. That being said, I know some people adamantly do not allow their pets on the furniture.
I try to lay blankets down to limit the amount of hair that gets on the furniture, but as you can see, she has her own mind, and most of the time, she ends up where ever she darn well pleases. I looked up several doggy training websites, and by in large, they stated allowing pets on the furniture was a personal preference {and thank goodness, not a behavior derailing scenario}.
Since it is a matter of personal preference, I kind of wondered what all of YOU allow? Yes, they are allowed on the furniture? No, absolutely not? Have you ever changed your mind halfway through the same dog’s life and started making them get off of the furniture?

Absolutely. I have 2 cats. They are on what ever they want to be on. I used to have 2 dogs and yes to them too. This is their home. Most of my animals are rescues and I don’t know what kind of life they’ve had so they get pampered!
Jannette says
A bit difficult to accept with our Irish Wolfhound ‘Uisce’, but her sisters, Daisy, Winnie and Praline, our cats absolutely!
Cindy says
Absolutely ON the furniture, beds–where we go they go.
They are part of our family and the human members can (and sometimes are) just
as messy. I want them to be with us -life is too short and lint rollers too plentiful to not have our dear pets around us!
Kathy says
My beagle is allowed on all the furniture and sleeps with me at night. I’m widowed with no children and she is my four-legged baby. I got new living room furniture about a month ago and nothing has changed. The furniture is not nearly as important to me as my little friend is.
Kayla says
Our mini doxie, Frank, no doubt IS allowed on the furniture. Heck, he even kicks us out of bed. All 8 pounds of him. He is our “fur baby”. We don’t have kids yet, so he is it.
Kathy says
There is something my sisters and I live by and will share with you concerning pets, furniture and human visitors to our respective homes:
Dear visiting human,
If you don’t like the pet hair, stay off the furniture.
Signed,
The Family Pet(s)
Enough said.
Margie says
AMEN TO THAT. We have 4 Yorkies of varying size, shape, & age. If family, visitors, friends, etc. don’t like their barking or being on the furniture, TUFF.
Cindi says
For many years and through a number of dogs, I didn’t allow dogs on the furniture and certainly not in my bed. We always had big dogs and they had their own beds in every room.
Then we got a little dog. 19 pounds little. The first night we had him he absolutely refused to stay in his bed. After about the 20th time of putting him back, I gave up and let him in the bed with us. Now I would seriously miss him if he wasn’t there. And he can sleep on any piece of furniture he wants. Our bigger, older dog, was trained from a pup not to get on the furniture, and though I would allow her on it now, she never tries to get on it. I imagine any future dogs we get will also be allowed on the furniture, as I really can’t see myself explaining — well, the little guy is allowed up there, but you aren’t.
Teresa says
If you come to visit me, expect to leave with a little dog hair on your clothes! ‘Nuff said.
Linden says
We have two huge Irish wolfhounds and they are welcome to lie anyplace they want. Some mornings we wake up with the two of us and the two of them on the king size bed—it is like having four humans in the same bed. Crowded, but they bring us so much pleasure we are happy to indulge them.
Cindy says
My mastiff is not allowed on the furniture. He has his own large bed. The other 3 small dogs and 4 cats are. I bought leather so that the hair and slobber could easily be wiped off. I wouldn’t know how to act if I sat down and one wasn’t on top of me.
Crystal says
Yes, mine are all allowed on the furniture. I can’t even imagine trying to keep the cats off the furniture. And I love snuggling with my dog.
Karen says
I have four cats… they do whatever they please. This includes one that is allowed to eat at her spot on the dinner table. If people don’t like it, they don’t have to visit…. BUT my daughter is almost 10 and has always been healthy. The kid has never had to take any anti-biotics. So the cat germs can’t be all that bad.
Katie W says
My black lab used to be allowed on the furniture when I was single. She was definitely one of those puppies that thinks they can fit in the crevice between you and the armrest and you won’t notice. BUT, as much as I love my puppy, I hated that my couch and bed sheets were always hairy. I was constantly cleaning them. She would also give herself mani/pedis and leave huge spots where her tongue missed her paws. I grew up with dogs that shed, so I am well used to the hair being EVERYWHERE, doesn’t mean I like sitting on it. So after my single life couches were turned into a mess, my (then) boyfriend/fiance and I decided that when we got married and moved in together she wouldn’t be allowed on the furniture. This was a very easy transition for her. It was a new apartment with new to her couches. We only had to shoo her off a couple times and it stuck. Now she just sleeps at our feet when we’re on the couch, and she sleeps at the foot of the bed, or on my side of the bed, on the floor.
The only place she’s allowed to sleep with us is at the deer lease. We stay in a camper that’s older than I can imagine, so there’s really no point in trying to keep it nice lol. She knows she gets to sleep on the “bed” here so she’s always the first one there 🙂
Katie W says
Although, I will add that sometimes my husband loves to pick her up and put her in his lap for a few minutes when he’s sitting on the couch. Normally she’s a 55lb wiggle worm, but when he does this she sits very still because she doesn’t want to be put down lol
Amy says
Our malamute mix is allowed on the couches if she’s invited, and she’s amazing at adhering to this. My toddlers and I are usually moving around so much that she learned the best place for her 75lb self is out of the way somewhere. She’s not allowed in the bed bc i refuse to wake up with fur in my eyes and mouth (google “malamute”) but she has a bed directly on the floor in my side. We love our Fathead and I cuddle with her every night on the couch after the kids go to bed and chores are done ^_^
OneFamily says
Yes, the 2 big dogs and cat are allowed on the furniture. I put a blanket down on the couch and wash it often. Most evenings, while I’m watching tv, all 3 are on the couch with me. One of the dogs sleeps with us (the other prefers to lay in front of the front door) and I eventually got a duvet cover, so I could wash it easily, rather than having a big comforter on our king sized bed.
Mrs. C. says
Four dogs and they go where they like. I cover items that need protection.
Sue says
I have two Chiweenies and one Terrihuahua that have the run of the house and furniture. I didn’t kick my two-legged kids off the furniture and I don’t do it to the four-legged ones. The oldest, a male, is my shadow, so wherever I sit he sits. His daughter is more independent and likes her own space.
anaika says
Absolutely not. After having an armchair AND our mattress peed on, then going to the expense of replacing them when the smell wouldn’t come out, animals on the furniture are a big fat NO at our house.
Debbie says
We do not allow our dog on the furniture. We had a Lhasa Apso that ruined a couch and chair. We also had a cat that we kept inside and did not declaw because we did not want her to be defenseless. She ripped up another couch. As I grow older I seem to be developing more of the ideas of my parents and grandparents or maybe I’m tired of replacing furniture. Our dog has comfort and care, but I do not see her as being an equal in the home. I agree that it is a personal preference and one that should not subject to anyone’s scrutiny.
Jody says
I agree 100%! We always had plenty of pet beds for our animals instead.
Deborah M says
Absolutely agree! I love my pets, but they are NOT humans, and my husband absolutely hates getting fur all over his clothes, so they are not allowed on the furniture. I wonder how we’ve gotten so twisted to treat animals better than we treat our homeless veterans or even some of our true family members. They aren’t human, and assigning human characteristics to them in our head is plain silly.
MJ says
3 dogs and 5 cats and its their house I just keep it clean for them. So sofa, bed whatever they want, hey lets be honest they out number me 8 to 1. The dogs even had me buy them stairs to get on the bed. And lets not forget to mention that I am also the doorman for the 3 dogs which I usually open and close at least 75 times a day because god forbid they miss a minute of lizard hunting in the back which luckily for the lizards they are terrible at and then when they come back in its back to sitting on the back of the sofa looking out the window to keep the front flank free from any attacking people walking by lol
Sherry says
Our pets are part of our family and are allowed on any furniture in the house. Our miniature schnauzer doesn’t really shed, so I can’t speak to that issue with him, but we do cover the seats with blankets because of dirty paws. When I purchased two throw pillows (at a GREAT low price of course!) he quickly adopted those as his own, they are so soft and comfortable he is always laying on those. We let him keep them…the drool and such that he has gotten on them certainly means HE can keep them and we don’t mind, ha ha. About shedding, our two guinea pigs shed a lot so we do deal with that when we take them out of their cage and let them join us on the couch or love seat. But honestly, my daughter and I “shed” so much hair I wouldn’t complain about the furry members of our family!
Jennifer says
Two cats, yes on the furniture, with a few exceptions… Never on the coffee table, dining/kitchen tables, never on the counters, and not on the top of the back-cushions on the sofa (as we see Lucy the Puggle Dog doing in one pic above).
I figure that it’s bad enough my cats stand in their toilet (litter box)… But they cannot walk those toilet paws where I eat (which I know they disregard the second I walk away). And they smash the cushions down. So they gotta sit on the sofa butt-cushions like everyone else.
Sandra says
We don’t allow our pet on the furniture. It’s for his own safety. He might accidentally get squashed, or break a leg jumping off of it.
Did I mention he’s a guinea pig? 🙂
Colleen says
I grew up in a house with a bajillion indoor/outdoor cats, and outdoor only dogs. My husband grew up with a similar cat situation, but indoor dogs, and nothing under 50lbs.
When we bought a house in 2011, we rescued a 9 mo old Lab, and I was going to be so strict, no furniture for him, no beds!
Well, the no furniture rule only lasted maybe 3 months. The cats were always on the furniture and he LOVES his kitties so much, even though they do not love him.
Last summer, I started letting him on the bed(all 90+lbs of him), and that was all good and well until we got a giant mutt puppy this spring. (The puppy is now 75 or so lbs at 10 months old.)
We have a king size bed and my husband and I both sleep perched precariously on the edge, because the dogs prefer a sleeping situation I call the capital H.
Me, plus those two on the recliner killed it. So we got a love seat to accomodate 200 lbs of dogs plus a human.
Clearly the animals run the place, and I am mostly ok with that.
Sue says
I want to live at your house! 😀
Colleen says
It’s a pretty good house for people who love big dogs and sassy kitties.
Deborah says
Since pur fur baby sleeps with us, yes, she’s free to get on the furniture. We have a Terrier Mix, rescue baby. Smart, but spoilt rotten.
Vicki says
My dogs have always been allowed wherever they want to be. With the exception of one very well-behaved big dog who always favored his kennel over the furniture, I’ve always had very small dogs. Amazingly, my two most recent dogs, long-coat Chihuahuas, are the ones who took up the most room in the bed. One of them unexpectedly died at 7 years of age the end of July. I now have more room to sleep, but I’d much rather have him and be perched on the edge again. And I so miss having one dog wrapped around my neck and one snuggled next to me by the arm of the chair as I read in the evening.
Cristie says
The cats are allowed on the furniture but not in the bed. The dogs are not allowed on the furniture or the bed – but I have 2 large and 1 giant breed dog and I feel it’s unfair to let the smaller dogs on but not the large one. They do all have their own beds in the two rooms we use with regularity.
Jen says
No pets on our furniture. We keep dog beds for them and most of the time the kids are laying in the floor anyways so the dogs just lay next to them.
Nancy says
Not only are our pets not allowed on the furniture, they are not in the house unless the temperature is 20 degrees or lower. We have had Australian shepherds and border collies. We let their hair get longer in the fall and through the winter and spring. We have a doghouse on our covered deck with a heated pad in it. Also we have a heated water dish. We will occasionally put them in the garage, but the house – nope. We live on 2 acres, so there is a lot of room for them to roam. I was raised on a farm – and all animals were outdoor animals.
Melissa Fritcher says
We have no personal space from our cat. Heck, she sleeps on my head at night. She’s family. The most I will do is keep her away from cooking and eating if it’s a special occasion. Otherwise, it’s share and share alike. Anyone who has a problem with it has forgotten that people shed as much at pets, and we should be cleaning often regardless. If you don’t make a pet part of the family, what is the point? I remember what it felt like as a kid when my parents has the ‘nice’ room that was for company so the kids couldn’t go in there, let alone pets. It’s just silly. I have a good vacuum, and those fabric/lint rollers in bulk. LOL
Chris says
Yes and no. 65 pounds of retriever, lab, border collie mix – she likes to “sneak” up on the furniture when we leave the house – so now the leather chair gets a towel on it before we leave and the couch cushions get turned down. She also thinks she is a lap dog. She crawls onto my lap to snooze in the evening. The only time she is allowed on the bed is when my husband is out of town. In order to leave no evidence, I put a throw blanket on the bed for her and wash it before he gets home!
erin says
Never been a big fan of dogs on the couch or beds. Our cocker spaniel started sneaking into bed with our son in the evening (it’s the only bed low enough for him to get into) so we let that slide now. Our son says he keeps him warm. I’ve seen the damage dogs do to furniture and I’m too cheap to be spending that kind of coin. I just buy new puppy beds every few years instead.
Robin says
Our cats — and in the past our dogs — are welcome to be on the furniture and beds and get their own blankets and pillows if they like. 🙂 Our late chocolate Lab had his own overstuffed chair. He had to live outside in a kennel before he ended up at the shelter at 9. A rescue group got him out after he was scheduled to be put down, and we adopted him. His body and fur showed the effects of living outside, and we did what we could to make his life comfortable and enjoyable during his remaining four years, including the chair he chose for himself. 🙂
Karin says
I’ve never understood why people get pets if they’re just going to stick them outside. Especially dogs, they’re such social creatures. Bless your heart for adopting him and giving him a good few years. Senior dogs are so hard to place. That was very kind of you.
We have a beagle and 3 cats and with the exception of the kitchen counters and dining room table they sleep where they like. We have a kennel for the dog, but its just so he has his own space. We only shut him in if we have a repair man at the house. He wants to make friends with everyone!
Earlene says
No animals on furniture. Just a rule!
Lissa says
I hate having dogs on the furniture. I’ve only had large dogs…I just don’t like small dogs (and I’m a vet tech). I adore he cats, and they have free reign. Cuz, really, have you ever tried to tell cats what to do? No kitchen counters or tables though. MY dog isn’t allowed on furniture (Husky). The gf’s dog (lab) is allowed on the couch. But I’ve held out on the bed. It’s just a queen and there’s not room for all of us since the dog is jealous. So he sleeps in his crate as he is well used to it since puppyhood. And my dog gets to sleep on a nice bed beside ours. If there’s times when only the gf is home at bedtime she lets the lab in her bed and I let that slide…
Jane says
I can now weigh in on these pet questions! Our dog came from a home where he was allowed on the furniture and in beds. He’s been very good about adapting to his new home’s rules- he’s allowed on one end of our sectional sofa (where his blanket is) and the kids fight over who gets to sit next to him but he is allowed on our older love seat in the school room. He’s not allowed in beds in our house, tho. I figured it would be easier to relax the rules than try to back-peddle so we’re starting out kind of strict:-) He’s a big boy so that came into play when deciding on the rules. My husband takes up enough of the bed!
TrayceeBee says
Absolutely! We have a very large chocolate lab and she definitely has the run of the place – especially when my husband is NOT home and at work! LOL The only place that she sometimes gets kicked off of by my husband is our bed, but I’m even winning the war on that one too! =)
K says
I see a lot of people mention those rollers to get the pet hair off of furniture but I know a better way. Take a clean piece of cotton knit (I like to use an old t-shirt cut into manageable pieces), wet it then wring it out and get all the water out of it. It will be just very slightly damp. Rub it across your upholstered furniture and the fur will come right off. There is not enough water to hurt the upholstery and, if anything, it gives the fabric a slight cleaning. I learned this trick when I had a client who had four black cats in the house and lots of light colored furniture.
Sue says
Lint rollers are fine but my hubby and I have another trick. We stand across from each other at our bed with a long piece of masking tape stretched across the bed then slowly pull the tape down the fitted sheet. It’s a cheap alternative to lint rollers and works great.
jenny says
The cats have always been up on the furniture and beds, cause really, cats don’t listen to anything! Had a yorkie when I was younger and she was soooo spoiled by my dad. I am afraid my husband might throw my current cat outside to get eaten by coyotes if she doesn’t stop sleeping on the couch!
Tamara says
Really, Mavis, is Lucy the cutest calendar girl you’ve ever seen or what!?!
gen says
My husband and I have an 80 pound Pit-bull, he is NOT allowed on the furniture. He has a nice thick Kong bed, and a thick mattress in his crate. The dog is happy to drag his kong bed around the house where ever he wants to lay down. On very rare occasions he’s allowed on our bed, e.g. vet visits with instructions not to leave him unattended for 24 hours, or when I’m very sick and lay down during the day which isn’t very often. He is too big, and too strong, we wouldn’t have any furniture left if we let him on it.
lynne says
We have 2 – 10# poodles that run the house. We try to discourage them sleeping inbetween us in bed, but by morning, they both have “wormed” their way to that desirable spot – so much for snuggling eachother, we snuggle the dogs instead. I think if we had shedding dogs, it would be different. And, as I type this, they are currently snuggled inbetween us on the couch, on their favorite blankies. LynneInMN
Amy says
No dogs on the furniture here. Ever. We have had large and small and the rule stays. love my doggies, but they have their own beds.
Patti M says
I let my sweet Lucy on the furniture. I started our relationship by not letting her on the furniture but decided I really liked having her up with me. She agrees that it is much nicer that way. I pretend she knows she is not allowed on when there is not a blanket there. : )
Dawna L says
We have an 18 year old cat. He is an orange tabby and can go anywhere he likes, well except the kitchen counters or table. We frequently have orange cat hair on our clothes; usually daily. Oh Well. We now have our son’s dog a Pom rescue who is also orange. Guess what, orange dog hair also. :0) He is also allowed anywhere but our bed because the cat does not like to share and he is the oldest.
Lauren says
Our dogs get on the end of the bed, but that’s it. Our cats allow us on their furniture.
Lana says
My Lucy gets wherever she wants.
By the way, my Lucy was named after Lucy the Puggle Princess. When we were getting her, my husband and I threw out names for her, and I thought about your Lucy and suggested the name and husband loved it. It’s perfect for our little Maltese.
Mavis Butterfield says
Very sweet. 🙂

We never used to care about any of the pets on the furniture (4 cats and a large dog) but about a year ago we bought a new couch and loveseat. It’s the first time I’ve ever bought brand-new-not-from-craigslist furniture and the fabric does not do well with claws so we had to stop allowing them on the new furniture. They are still allowed on a small sofa my husband has in his gaming room since it is a hand me down and the fabric seems almost impenetrable (I WISH we could have found new ones with that fabric!). The pets have all pretty much learned where they can and can’t lay down. They are allowed on pretty much any other furniture though, routinely lay on our bed and the guest bed and at times take over our desk chairs!

We are owned by a Siamese and he lets us use the furniture as well.
Trying to keep him off places he shouldn’t be was like “NO! Stop – down…. oh whatever”
We really don’t mind.
Siamese have rather interesting personalities! 😀
We have a cat sized sleeping bag that he uses the most on one of the couch chairs. If someone else dares sit there he will sit in front of that person and stare until they are unnerved. lol
Occasionally he will sleep in the bed, but its amazing how much room a small animal will take up and I object to things being pushed off the bedhead onto my head at 5am so usually I set him up in the laundry for the night.
Totally loving reading all the other pet stories here. So glad so many other people don’t mind their animals on the furniture!!
Karen says
We have a black lab and she is an outside only dog. She sheds crazy amounts of hair. As a puppy she was a little chew crazy and i couldn’t stand the thought of her chewing up my furniture. Now that she is older, I would love to let her in, but then I look at the amount of hair I sweep up from my patio and I change my mind.
JC says
Our pup is most definitely allowed on the furniture. I need puppy cuddles on the couch daily. He is even allowed in the bed until we actually go to sleep. We let him in to cuddle while we read or chat before bed, but when the lights go out he has to get in his bed. He plays dead sometimes but most of the time it’s not a problem for him and we sleep soundly without fighting for the covers with him.
carrie says
I have one dog and he is not allowed on the furniture. He is our pet, not a person. My kids get down on the floor to play with him. I will say I’ve had several people comment that my house does not smell and I think it is because he stays off the furniture. To each, their own however.
Linda says
We would love for our dog to get up on the sofa or the bed with us, but he doesn’t. He is a rescue who was badly abused (chained outside for 2 years and nearly starved to death). He is a small Rottie who sheds so much more than our last Rottie (who owned the sofa) & Catahoula Leopard combined. He brings so much joy and comfort to our home that I would happily clean pet fur off my furniture if he would only come up! We’ve had him over six years & when visiting pets hop up on the furniture he looks at us like ” Did you see that?!” We love our sweet boy!
Teresa says
Our 13 year old Westie passed away early Monday morning in bed between my husband and myself. We wouldn’t have had it any other way. She has been our baby for a long time and needless to say, she got what she wanted. We got a rescue Westie a couple of years ago and they both slept with us or were in my recliner with me. Wouldn’t take anything for the memories!

My adult dog and I have moved in with my fiance, and so now the rules are different. The dog has always gone wherever he pleases and been allowed on any furniture, but he has adjusted well to the new rules. He is not allowed in the bedrooms (except the spare bedroom where he sleeps) and by extension is not allowed on any beds. He is also allowed on the couch and the ottoman, but not the 2 free standing chairs in the living room. He has transitioned from sleeping loose in the house to sleeping in his kennel. He has learned it all really quickly and gets it right almost all of the time. He is also willing to do pretty much anything for a treat, so it was pretty easy to train him. I actually don’t miss having him sleep in the bed with me because he was so disruptive!
Brenda says
We love all of our family, 2 legged grandchildren and 4 legged fur babies. The grandchildren are way messier than the dogs and the 3 year old sleeps on the dog bed! We had 3 brittany dogs at one time and then we noticed they laid on the couch and we sat on the floor. We all loved that arrangement!!!! Now only have one, but that’s only until we can find another one.

Yes & no
Yes – I allow my little Morkie on some of my furniture – couch, chairs, bed ect but no tables at all. She doesn’t shed. We had a lab inside for 12 yrs & she wasn’t allowed on the furniture. Labs shed & are big dogs. She had a bed & could lay anywhere on the floor she wanted to. (We just lost her a few weeks ago & I miss her so much)
After having lived with a lab that sheds & a Morkie that doesn’t I’ll never have another pet inside that sheds. It makes a huge difference in how clean my house is & I will never miss getting those sharp barbed lab hairs stuck in my feet – it’s like pulling out a splinter.
I also think what ever your pet does in your house is your choice but I never allow my pets on the furniture with guests…unless the guest is a close friend who loves dogs & even then I make sure they like MY dog. I hate it when my friends allow their dog to do that to me. I think it’s rude to allow your pet to jump, lick, climb, ect your guests even if you like it when they do it to you.
I’ve had an indoor/outdoor cat as well. She was only allowed on the kitchen chairs – no other furniture. I made the exception of the kitchen chair because that’s where she would go to have peace from our other dogs. She liked being outside most of the time anyway & only came in to eat. In my experience cats are harder to keep clean than dogs. A dog will allow you to groom & clean it where it’s a constant battle with a cat.
I also cannot understand people allowing their cats on the tables, counters, stoves, ect. I can’t eat at a house that allows that, they may as well ask me to eat off the floor. 🙁 You asked!! 🙂

I have a 160lb Saint Bernard that has her own couch. She used to sleep on the bed until she just couldn’t get her rear end up there anymore. My last Saint, as well as cats that I have owned over the years, have all been allowed on the furniture.

No, our dogs weren’t allowed on the furniture. Our very first dog came to us at 6 months old, and had been allowed in the bed, but we didn’t allow it. We share a small, full-sized bed…not much room for anything besides the two of us. As far as fur on the furniture….it was everywhere, even w/o the dogs on there! (Btw, our dogs were a 90lb rott, and an 120lb belgian shepherd.)
The only time it bothered me that someone else’s dog was allowed on the furniture was when I slept at someone’s house, on their couch, and their dog spent the whole night jumping on and off of me. Sigh. 80lbs of dog in the middle of sleep is a bit much! Lol.
jfred says
We currently have three outside dogs (dh’s allergies settled down when our first dogs died, so he doesn’t want them indoors). They take over our porch and sleep in the planters/half wine barrels, lol. In the winter, two will cuddle in a planter, and the other will sleep in the dog house. In the afternoons, they nap under the porch with our chickens, lol! The kids are always outside w the pups, so the dogs still think they run everything around here! We have over 30 acres, and the dogs have free run of the place. Sometimes they get brave and try to boss our donkeys….eek! And they let me know whenever someone turns up the driveway….which I love! They also scare newcomers to stay in their cars, which is nice when one lives out in the country. Once someone is said to be ok, they leave them alone. 😉
I miss some parts of having inside dogs, but I don’t miss the fur, the accidents, and the wet dog smell after their baths . I DO miss their mad vacuum skills when the kids drop food! Haahaa!
Susan says
We have always had cats only, and they are allowed on laps or blankets. The couch and recliners have blankets across the top, which the cats always liked since they like to be up high anyway. Keeps the cat hair controllable, and limits the pet smell that embeds into furniture. We close the bedroom door at night, after our first kitten made a hole in the bottom of the box spring and decided to crawl in there and do laps one morning about 2 a.m! The rest of the time, they have the run of the whole house, just not on counters or tables.
Jillbert says
Yes to the couches, no to the bed. She actually prefers to sleep under the bed — it’s easier for her to nip ankles of anyone entering our room. Yes, she’s crazy.
Debi says
Yes, my dog is allowed on the bed and living room furniture. I keep it covered with sheets and old blankets which I wash. The bed not only has our nice comforter on it, but an older one sits on top of that so that the dog doesn’t get the nice oe dirty. Both of my dogs were rescues (one French Brittany and one American Brittany) and both of them are lovebugs. They are mama girls (yep fur babies).
