You know when you make something really good, and you’re like OH MY FREAKIN’ STARS?
Well, this recipe for honey chicken is just that. Oh my freakin’ stars. Next time, I’m making a double batch so we can eat it 2 nights in a row. Yep, it was that good.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts {I used frozen chicken}
1 small onion, diced
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
There are really 2 different ways to make this recipe.
If you plan on using frozen chicken breasts, simply turn the crock pot on low, and place frozen chicken in the bottom of the crock pot. Mix all the remaining ingredients together and pour the sauce over the chicken, put the lid on, and cook for 8 hours.
If you plan on using thawed chicken breasts, turn your crock pot on low, and place the chicken in the bottom of the crock pot Mix all the remaining ingredients together and pour the sauce over the chicken, put the lid on, and cook for 3 -4 hours.
Serve over a bed of your favorite rice.
Viola! A scrumptious dinner in no time at all! Man, I love my crock pot!

This chicken looks really tasty, but so does the rice in your picture. Would you share the recipe for the rice too?

Yes please, I was just scrolling to find that!

Thanks for reminding me of this recipe. I haven’t made this for a while. It’s really good with sesame seeds and green onions sprinkled on top. YUM! You can even add a bag of frozen broccoli to get a veggie in there.

Dear Mavis,
The Phyllis of your crockpot cookbook and I are birthday twins. We were roommates in college, and if you go here–http://fix-itandforget-it.com/blog/about-phyllis/–and scroll down to the text beneath the Dec 68 photo, you’ll learn how I contributed majorly to her career.

I wouldn’t mind some of that chicken for supper. I’m afraid we’re stuck with a scalloped-weenies-and-potatoes-and-carrots casserole.
Love,
S

Everyone should receive a cookbook as a wedding gift! Weenies and potatoes for dinner? Yawn… I’d rather have grape pie. 🙂 What do you think of JJ and crew flying off to Guatemala?

I try to smile and nod encouragingly.

I sent my husband here to check out the recipe…he’s making it. And, he added the cookbook to his Christmas list – so I guess I’m getting him that – ha!

Hilarious!

Could I get the recipe for the rice you served with your chicken? It looks delicious . . . and it looks like it’d go perfectly with the chicken recipe:)

Yes, please share your rice recipe! 😉

Ditto on the rice recipe, please? I’m putting the chicken recipe on a card to print at this very moment. I just put chicken cacciatore recipe in my slow cooker for tonight’s dinner, and chopped extra mirepoix for another meal to freeze, but I wonder if a finely minced mirepoix is what’s in that rice, along with a little wild rice? I think that would be good, too, and my husband is very conscious of meals that are colorful and attractive, and never fails to mention that. During the holidays, having these meals ready to cook is a god-send. Thank you for sharing your recipes! I am enjoying them so much!

I keep checking to see if there has been a reply on the rice so I can make the complete meal. Guess I’ll just have to go with some homemade rice a roni for tonight as I can’t wait any more to make this!

Hi Amber,
I believe I used a box of ready made rice mix for this dinner as I don’t have a recipe for it. Sorry for the delay.
