One of our favorite readers, Lisa from Tazmania is back, and this time she’s not talking about her amazing garden {although we love when she does!}. Today she is sharing a simple little knitted craft just in time for Easter. If you are looking for an easy. last minute Easter craft, do we have just the thing for you.
Hello…
I had been knitting bears for my husband to take to his hospital {he is a lovely RN} for any kids that have to go in for operations- also to put in the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes โ but this rabbit is 10 times faster to produce and they work out pretty cute!
Supplies:
A knitted square of any size
Matching wool
Polyester stuffing
Craft pom poms
Ribbon and colored thread {optional}
Using your wool, secure a strong knot at one end and then stitch a very big running stitch exactly across the middle of your chosen square {you can fold your square in half for accuracy}. Next, stitch to the center of the top of your square and back down to the beginning of your initial running stitch, forming a triangle.
Begin pulling the thread, creating a small pocket in your square {you can see the head and ears forming when you do this}. Before you pull it completely closed, place a small ball of stuffing into the head. Pull the thread tight, closing the head and make a few stitches to secure.
Next, stitch down the square section that makes up the back of the bunny back of the bunny, leaving a hole at the end so you can add stuffing. Stuff your rabbit’s body and then pull the thread tight so that the point comes up to the bunnies neck. Make a few stitches to secure.
Position the ears however you’d like them using a few stitches at the base of the ear.
Finish by using a few quick stitches to attach the pom pom tail. You can add ribbon or a few colored stitches to give your bunny some character/details and then, wallah! Easy and adorable bunny craft complete.
On a side note we had a typically Tasmanian day. Woke to a howling gale, no sun, pouring rain. The kind of day where you best put your head back under the covers.
All of a sudden at about 2pm, the sun came out and it was warm and windy enough to get a whole load of laundry done and dried!!
Have a lovely Easter Weekend.
Cheers,
Lisa
