Yesterday, The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird organized the school supply closet for her and Monkey Boy. Each fall we load it with supplies with things like pencils, paper, markers, scrapbook paper and poster board {for class presentations} so there’s no need for a last minute run to Target before the doors close.
I bet there isn’t a kid out there who hasn’t told their parents they needed something for a school project {or party} at the very last possible second. If your kids are not in school yet… Trust me. It happens. And it’s usually on a night when you are ultra crappy, have 5 loads of laundry to fold, and you are totally sleep deprived.
For some reason, that’s just how it works.
Anyway… The Girl whipped up these super cute {and easy to make} chalkboard paint jars using a few quart jars, some chalkboard paint and chalk markers.
Start with 4 clean quart sized canning jars.
Apply painter’s tape, and leave a 2″ by 6″ section exposed, and brush the chalk paint on. {It used 3 coats, probably because I have major OCD and just wanted to make sure it was on there good and thick}.
After chalk paint has dried, remove tap, and add letters using chalk markers.
Viola! Not only is these back to school chalkboard paint jars cute, but they are useful!
So tell me, are you ready for school to start?

As cute as those totally are, are you sure you could spare the jars with all of those veggies you have growing? 😛
Mavis says
Ha Ha Ha. I have over 500 jars. I should be okay. 😉
Saralie says

Cute. Wonder if that paint will stay on through the canning process? I like it. Love your blog. I’ve learned a lot from it.

Totally cute! Except wouldn’t it make more sense to keep crayons and markers in their boxes? I understand putting pencils and pens and glue sticks into the cans. But some things you might want to keep together as a set.
Saralie says
much cuter this way.
Leiha Nieves says
Well i think it is better to put them in jars because the box of the crayons will soon break
