“Who me?” said the worlds cutest trouble Puggle.
Lucy was a bad, bad, bad dog yesterday. Somehow she found Ernesto, our Elf on the Shelf and took him on the ride of his life.
If I remember the story correctly, an Elf will loose it’s magical powers if it is touched.
I’m not sure what that means for Lucy, but I’m glad to report Ernesto still has all his limbs. No major damage was done, but he will need a good bubble bath to get all the dirt off of his outfit.
It’s a good thing Ernesto is a bit floppy, because the whole ordeal lasted a good 3 minutes.
I have a feeling Ernesto is going to report this to Santa and Lucy the trouble puggle will get a stocking full of coal this year.
What a naughty dog.

That is priceless! Looks like Lucy will have “elf on the shelf” in the number 1 spot on her Christmas list this year.
Teaching her the command “leave it” might be a good idea.
Desi says
Oh that naughty dog, ๐ Maybe she needs her own Chew elf.
Susan says
I have been the dog chaser/ item retriever multiple times too!! The command “Treat” (which means the best food you’ve ever tasted to our dogs) will get her to stop and drop whatever she has. Good luck, Lucy is pretty speedy!!

gotta luv it!!

Mavis I’m with Lisa..I had to teach my dog the” leave it” command she was eating everything including my furniture!! it’s very normal for Lucy to chew. she’s still a pup but you don’t want her eating something that’s not good for her belly … like the elf… she could get a blockage and then it’s off to the vet and big money… time for Lucy to go to doggie boot camp!

Love that dog!

I can’t tell you how many elves, snowmen, or other interesting holiday decorations have been eaten, chewed or destroyed over the years. Lucy is still a puppy and you probably should get some type of training for her, so she stays healthy. Doesn’t mean i didn’t laugh out loud at my computer when i watched the video.. At least it was a nice day, for Ernesto to be outside..
Marylynn says
My son just watched part of this with me and said, “I don’t ever want to be an elf in that house.”

LOL!!!!! So glad to know I’m not the only one with a “bad dog!” Yep – been there done that….just not with an elf…at least, not yet!! HA! And yea, yea, yea….I know – my dog needs training too! He knows his commands – sometimes he’s just in a super playful mood and wants to have fun…kind of like my kids!! HA! I love dogs – thanks for posting this – too cute!!

I agree with the concept of teaching “leave it” and ” drop it” as a command. It is useful not only as don’t eat that command, but also as a “the baby is not going to wrestle with you” command!

I feel your pain (and ernestos) … I have definitely had to teach our huskies the command “leave it!” and it works most of the time — but they do love a good game of keep away and it’s hard to get them to “leave it” when they are playing keep away with something awesome like an elf! Little stinkers! Hope ernesto is none the worse for the wear.

Lets look at the positive…. Lucy was sprinkling Ernesto’s magic all over your garden for better crops next year!
She is such trouble and it is really hard not to laugh when the kids misbehave. I am sure she could use some training but isn’t it great to see her be free and have so much fun. Hard to take that away.
Mavis Butterfield says
She is so stinkin’ sweet and the best dog ever. Even the HH agrees. ๐ Yes, she needs a little training, but she is so much fun that it’s hard to be upset with her.
Janet says
You need a stern voice. She needs to know you’re the boss. Just like you did with your kids when they were little. Get after her when she’s naughty and she’ll learn. Set boundaries and limits.
I did laugh, though. I’m waiting to see how your tree does…
Rosaleen says
Let me start with I’ve never owned a dog.
I’m liking the stern voice and training the dog, but I’m also thinking that you have to sleep some time. How about asking your vet if Lucy will be injured should she attack the elf again after it has been treated with capsaicin? I’m a believer in the idea that all creatures capable of thought repeat behaviors that are rewarded and tend to cease behaviors that are not (or are associated with something bad). If it works on a 2 YO, it may work on a puppy.
Jennifer says
I loved hearing your voice! Dont know why, but surprisingly i never imagined you having such a strong northern accent, so cute! ๐
Jamie says
OH No! I’m with the above posters, Lucy may need a little doggie obedience school. Our puppies learned Leave it and Come, both incredibly useful commands. But it was pretty cute how much she enjoyed playing with Ernesto….it’s hard to stay mad when they’re so cute and otherwise wonderful.

Those elves creep me out so I’m rooting for Lucy! My son’s Lego mini figures took ours “hostage!” Gotta love dogs (& kids!) My very untrained bull dog only knows “leave it – not yours!” It had saved tons of kiddo toys otherwise destroyed by him. But he knows he CAN destroy his own stuff, if he wishes. Too bad that’ the ONLY command he knows. Oh well. Thank for posting this ( and everything else), I read you every day! Cheers!
Elaina says
okay … that is dang funny! Thank you for the laugh… all I can say is Go Lucy Go! give that elf hell!
Helen in Meridian says
BAD DOG. Ernesto is a Family Heirloom and must be protected. Dogs can be replaced, but family heirlooms can’t. SAVE ERNESTO.
Heather says
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again – This little girl is quite possibly my dog’s twin – both physically and mentally! My puppy Loki (he’s 10 months old but I still consider him a puppy!!) does the EXACT same thing with any items he’s NOT supposed to have. He knows exactly what he is and is not supposed to have – so when i see him with something he shouldn’t have and start walking toward him – he takes off faster than i am capable of explaining!! ๐ ๐ Love this video though – makes me laugh!!
