This weeks “scrap boxes” were filled with a bunch of produce that was still edible {imagine that!}. Some weeks there is a lot of variety, and other’s it’s like hitting the mushroom lotto or something and I have to scramble to figure out what to with mass quantities of one item. It’s fun, but sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge. But not this week.
Radishes. I think the only thing that was wrong with these radishes was that they were too small. The smallest being the size of a dime. Clearly, if given the chose, a consumer is going to pick a bundle of large radishes over a small cluster, because bigger is always better, right?
Ahh But guess who loves bite size radishes?
Miss Lucy Puggle that’s who! 🙂
Free watermelon, apples, kiwis and grapes for lunch snacks and a boatload of lettuce for taco night and dinner salads. Gitty up. Free food is awesome!

Mavis have you ever considered weighing the food you get, and how much you keep? I’d love to see how much food you save from the compost!
Mavis Butterfield says
No. I have too much on my plate already. Ha! 🙂

I need to find a local Mr. Produce. I don’t have chickens so I don’t know how I would ask. I do plan to compost.
I’m always looking for bruised bananas to make banana bread.

Oh my goodness, I could just eat her up!! I love it when dogs like raw veggies. I have one that will ONLY eat them cooked and the other loves them raw!
One of mine developed a taste for mushrooms. Not cool when she eats the poisonous ones from the yard. Yikes. First, she was totally spaced out…then she became violently ill. The experience cured her of her ‘shrooms habit. Wild ride, man.

What stores give away their produce and who do you ask.?
