Word of the Day: Rotund Definition: Rounded, full Used in a sentence: His rotund face was always wreathed in smiles.
Hello Tuesday!!!
The weather… I just cannot believe how hot it has been around here lately and I keep wondering {hoping} if we will have a major snow storm this year because of it. It’s just like 2009 I tell you. What do you think? Do super warm summers = snowy winters?
The suspense is getting to me!!! 😉

JUST like 2009, and that loooong HOT summer was indeed followed up with a robust winter. Lets hope for the same this time. This past mild winter followed by this heat has the bug population on steroids here in Idaho!! My chickens are the only ones overjoyed about that but I am afraid they will have to join weight watchers in the fall to get their figures back! 🙂
Diane says
Totally agree with Karen’s comment. The bugs this year are really obnoxious! I call summers like this in Seattle…
a “Kansas summer”, and yes 2009 was the last time we had one. The only thing that gets me through is saying over and over…”it is great for the tomatoes”. That year I was getting 50 tomatoes a week off of 3 heirloom plants once they started. IT. WAS.AWSOME!!! (and overwhelming :>).
I ended up taking a canning class that year to deal with how well I did that summer in addition to donating and giving away.
I always take my first tomato picking to my parents, who can’t garden anymore. It has become a tradition. I usually take a nice big bowl full thinking that it will get through the week. My folks will sit down and practically go through the bowl in one sitting! I’m always shocked when I see them do this and have to stifle the urge to yell “hey that’s 3 months of work…Stop It!
I’m glad they think it is a treat.
As much as I hate harsh winters, I am hoping for one to get the bug population back in check.
This is such a nice time of the year, can’t beat the summer harvest.
Cheers!
