Is that a sad face or what? Poor Lucy Puggle. Yesterday we had someone over who was not a fan of dogs and Lucy had to stay in the office for a few hours. She whined the entire time and it was the saddest thing ever.
She did get a cookie from the UPS man when he stopped by though, he LOVES dogs and drives around town delivering packages and treats to the dogs on his route. How cool is that?
Life is good.
Well, here are a few deals I spotted this morning for you, have a great Wednesday everyone.

All I can say is Wow Mavis. Someone not being a fan of your pup/4 legged kid is awful. Poor Lucy she is family and should never be locked away. I make it a rule in my home because I have birds, dogs and cats that if you have issues with my furry feathered kids you need to stay home. Poor Lucy what message did you give her?

It’s sad for Lucy, but maybe the person got bit by a dog as a child or is allergic. When we visit people with dogs or cats, their owners always put them ‘away’ because my husband is severely allergic and gets a bad reaction (plus his asthma gets worse) just being in the house where an animal lives, let alone having one in the same room. The owners always know this and graciously invite us over anyway and offer to put the animal outside or in a different room. I think it was nice of Mavis to be accommodating and I’m sure Lucy got plenty of extra love that day.

I should have mentioned the person at our home was working on something and I was in the office the whole time with her. She is one loved pup, that’s for sure. I think the worker guy just wasn’t a fan of dogs in general.

Poor Lucy- how on earth could someone not love her! I imagine your visitor was someone special or you wouldn’t have done it for them but I must say unless they are allergic to fur babies, they are missing out- dogs are the best! I have a dog, my mom has a dog, and my son has 3 dogs so I wear dog hair wherever I go! I also wear black tshirts every day so I tell people I accessorize with dog hair!

Good for you if all she did was whine – no clawing at the door and ruining the finish?! Good puppy, Lucy! She can come to my house anytime. My two hounds would welcome her!

Since Mavis didn’t tell us why she put Lucy in a separate room, I can think of a couple of reasons: fear of dogs or jumping. I have a fear of dogs which seems irrational to others but is very real to me. It’s right up there with claustrophobia, spiders, etc. My friends are very kind and accommodating for me because they know I can’t help it. As for jumping up on people, that seems pretty obvious. No one wants to go to someone’s house and endure a dog constantly jumping on them.
Thanks for the Smithsonian magazine deal, Mavis! I’m giving it another try. My last subscription did not turn out so well, the people in the post office really liked the magazine I guess, and my delivery was sporadic. With a discounted price, I’ll try it again. I also got Mother Earth News as it was $15 for a year. A discount of $1.95.

I think it was a nice gesture…my husband is deathly allergic to cats (ambulance ride allergic, not hayfever allergic). We simply can’t visit anyone who isn’t willing to put their cats in a separate area. Obviously, the choice is entirely theirs, but we definitely appreciate the friends who are willing to go to a bit of extra effort!
And we actually make a point of limiting our dogs exposure to anyone other than family/close friends. We WANT them to bark if someone tries to come in our house! 🙂
Cheryl says
My son had severe allergies to dogs when he was little. His lungs would fill up with fluid if he even rode in the car with someone who owned a dog. Any exposure to dogs resulted in pneumonia by the next day. (After years of treatments he is able to tolerate them a little better now that he is an adult.) People who don’t suffer from allergies have no understanding of the severity of reactions. Because of her brother’s allergies, my daughter always freaked out when she saw a dog. It took her a long time to get to the point of owning one herself. And, then there is my nephew, who was mauled by a family member’s pet when he was a child. Nothing has convinced HIM to be a dog lover. I think your action of closing your adorable pug up for an hour or so was a very humane, considerate gesture on your part. It is NOT doggy abuse! I wouldn’t worry too much about Lucy’s feelings of abandonment. Pets are very forgiving. I say, Bravo to you!

I think the groupon for strawberries should read “15 dollars for 30 dollars worth.” Or that is the worst Groupon deal ever 😛
