In an attempt to make our recent trip to Dollywood last a longer, tonight The Girl and I are going to watch Nine to Five. {It’s a shout out to Lola and her love for Dolly Parton.} Plus, it’s kind of an iconic 80’s movie, so it feels like I should watch it at least once. The Girl and I ought to get a kick out of it.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Did you love it? Hate it? Can’t wait to watch it over and over?

I watched Fried Green Tomatoes on tv the other night and loved it again after all these years. There is something about the gentle life of the 1930’s to 50′ that I love. Bit before my time, but was a simpler life. Time to sit a spell. Not like today’s fast paced life. Isn’t it funny how the more gadgets and electronics we have to make our life easier, the less time we seem to have??

I’m not sure it was such a “gentle life” then Mari. The US was at war during a lot of those decades! From what I hear from my relatives that lived then, it was not much fun.
Movies can make anything look romantic.
I did like Fried Green Tomatoes as a novel.
I haven’t seen 9-5.

I agree it was not easy, The depression and wars affected everyone, even us over here in NZ. It was no fun for anyone. Sorry never meant to imply it wasn’t. I was meaning it was simpler in respect of time, gadgets etc. No fast foods,,, maybe I should have said it was a purer time. People knew their neighbours, helped them , grew own produce, had time to do things with their kids.

I LOVE that movie! I work in an office, and despite the fact that it’s not AS condescending in the workplace as it showed in the 80’s, I still get a kick out of it.

Love love love that movie. My favorite parts are when Lilly Tomlin is dressed as Snow White and when they wire him up with the garage door opener. Jane Fonda as they meek little mouse is quite the character. Loved Dolly’s cowgirl outfit too.
