Okay, here’s the deal: If you are not into a strong, capable female character running her own estate {in a time when women really didn’t}, AND having three really, really equally appealing suitors chase after her, then Far From the Madding Crowd is not for you. If by some crazy chance, you are into those sorts of things, then seriously, put this on your watch list post-haste. It is brilliant…and well-done…and the uptown, classy girl’s chick-flick. {Did I mention it’s based on Thomas Harding’s novel?}
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

The 1968 version of the Thomas Hardy adaptation with Julie Christie is fabulous. Even today. She is a much more passionate Bathsheba than Mulligan!
