Tonight, I am going to try out a History channel series called Mountain Men. It is about three men who choose to live with very little monetary income and make their survival off of the land.
I think it will be pretty interesting to see how modern day world translates into their desire to live off of the grid. Each of the men have slightly different stories–two of them have families. I am always amazed at people who make the commitment to do this sort of thing–sometimes, I even wish I had what it took.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.

My husband LOVES Mountain Men. I let out a little laugh when I saw that you were going to watch it and my husband inquired about the laughter. I said, “Mavis is going to watch Mountain Men.” and he got all excited and said, “Awesome!!” Ha!
Yes, you are a household name due to all of your gardening knowledge and delicious recipes. Also, my kids love Lucy and your chickens. They loved that video of Lucy digging!

Ahh, tell your husband hello. 🙂 I need to make more Lucy videos! 🙂

Have you seen “Alone in the Wilderness?” It’s on PBS and you can order the DVD. It’s from like 50 years ago and WAYYYYY out in the Canadian wilderness. Guy builds a stunning cabin in just a couple days with nothing but an ax. He lived there for years and years.
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes… I love it. I think I’ve seen it about 20 times. 🙂
