A big thanks to One Hundred Dollars a Month reader Jen who let me know about Patagonia’s Worn Wear Campaign. When I was a teenager, I owned a purple Patagonia zip up jacket and let me tell you Bob, it was the coolest jacket ever. And I kept it for about 10 years before donating it to a local thrift shop so someone else could enjoy it.
After seeing this video though, I wish I would have kept it. {I think my favorite story is the guy with the board shorts}.
How about you? Do you have a favorite article of clothing that you just can’t seem to part with?
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I have an old school, pink golds gym sweatshirt with an ape holding a loaded barbell. My now HH bought for me when we traveled through Ventura Ca. It’s at least 30 years old and I can’t part with it. I think I’ll start wearing to the gym on occasion.

I didn’t watch the video but I’ve owned a couple of Patagonia items…I bought a polar fleece snow suit for my son — it grew with him for a good 3 years! I then gave it to a friend who used it with 2 of her children. I moved away from her but 9 years later I had my second child…I contacted her and she said she had just gotten back from her sister-in-law and it still looked great. She returned it and I used it for my second child for another 3 years. The funny thing is I can’t remember what happened next to it because I was done with kids and didn’t care to see it again. I just knew I had gotten my money’s worth — probably went to the thrift store.
I bought a coat from their Dillon, Montana factory store dirt cheap — it had a flaw (could never figure out what it was) so I wasn’t sure it would hold up as long but it was cheap when I needed a new cheap coat. I wore it for almost 15 years – skiing, sledding, riding in the car — it covered my bottom at football games! Then my mother took it and wore it until she passed away, for about another 5 years. It still looked great. I took it to the thrift store but now I wished I had it back!

Panties with holes in them. I don’t know that it’s that I love the panties so much, but it’s that I hate shopping for new. Yeah, I said panties on Miss Mavis’ blog.
And Happy New Year!
