While I was working on my rugs a few nights ago The Glass Castle came up in my included with Prime movies on Amazon and I totally freaked out and hit the play button immediately.
I can’t remember when I first read The Glass Castle but I do remember reading it cover to cover in less than two days…. and then reading it again just in case I missed anything the first time around. Author Jeanette Walls’ story about growing up in her totally eccentric and dysfunctional family was too good to put down, it was that fascinating.
In my opinion, the book is better than the movie, {which is almost ALWAYS the case!} BUT I thought the movie was very well made and the acting was spot on and totally recommend watching it. In fact, I might even watch it a second time. 😉
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Wow! Thanks for the heads up…I don’t check the prime movies nearly as often as I should. I’ve been wanting to see this one for some time.

I did really like the book but I kept thinking “if one more bad things happens to her I’m not going to be able to keep reading” so I don’t know if I could take the movie. If you haven’t read Half Broke Horses also by Jeanette Walls you should. It’s the story of her grandmother’s life. You’d definitely like her spirit!

I felt like the movie had less “bad things” in it than the book. I totally recommend the movie.

Love the book, and yes the precursor is a must read too. It’s different but you make a lot of connections. I love reading about other people’s lives and how a person gets to where they are in life – what makes a person tick.
