The Girl and I have been having so much fun watching some of the old musical classics that we have decided to put them on our regular rotation for awhile. Tonight, we are going to watch The Music Man.
I don’t know if you have ever seen it, but if you have, you know what I’m talking about when I say that I will probably be singing the train scene in my head for days after this. If you are looking for some amusing, clean FAMILY entertainment, The Music Man is where it’s at.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Oh man, I’m already singing a long. “Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little, cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot pick a little more… My parents had this soundtrack on vinyl when I was little, and I think I wore a groove in it. Enjoy the movie!

“Join us at the picnic. You can have your fill of all the food you bring yourself.”
Question “Say what do you do for fun around here?” Answer “Mind our business.”

We did this as part of a community theatre play, one son played a young boy, the husband was a salesman on the train and one of the Barbershop singers. One daughter was the little girl Amaryllis who liked the little boy, and two of my older kids played teens. That play was stuck in our heads for a very long time. Before that it was Oklahoma, and currently we just finished up Sound of Music.

I love “The Music Man”, we played in on cassette (!!) in the car all the time and I could sing most songs for you at the drop of a hat. Shirley Jones is the best!
