Awww. The day of love is here again. If you are brave crazy enough to venture out and fight the crowds, waiting 2 hours for a table at a fancy restaurant, you might not need this list. But if you’re like me, and you’d rather curl up with the peeps you love and watch a movie, I’ve got you covered. This list covers all our bases: good, really good, and awesome. All about love, so totally fitting. Here are my top 10 Valentine’s Day lovey dovey movies in no particular order:
Serendipity: One of my hands down favorite John Cusak movies {and that’s totally hard to say because there are so many good ones}. It’s just that the connections the characters make in this movie are incredible, and the script is even better. And it’s funny, too. My favorite kind of love story movie! I also want to hop a plane to New York every time I watch it.
P.S. I Love You: I’m not much of a crier, but this movie gets me every time. Ugh it’s so good and sad and perfect. I was never a huge Hillary Swank fan until I saw this movie. She’s perfect in it. So go gather your tissues and get to watchin’.
Moonstruck: Cher and Nicolas Cage at their very best. It’s so funny and sweet and everything a good romcom should be, well before they labeled romcoms!
The Princess Bride. It will be “love, treww love” at first watch. One of the most classic and hilarious movies, EVER. I just finished reading, As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride so I’m in a super Princess Bride mood!
While You Were Sleeping: Sandra Bullock is the best. I’m not sure what it is about her, but I just always feel like we’d be best friends. I think that’s just the vibe she puts off for everyone, but I’m pretty sure we’d be besties if we ever met. Anyway, that aside, this movie is classic and feel good. I love it.
The Notebook: One of the sweetest love stories ever told. I could watch it on repeat and it will never get old. Plus the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams is the best ever. Swoon.
The Holiday: I thought this was going to be a cheesy romantic comedy before I watched it. The previews kind of elude to that. But it actually has substance and heart. Sure it’s occasionally cheesy, but not in an obnoxious way at all. It all comes together: the cast, the dialog, the storyline, and makes for a pretty great movie.
The English Patient: I’m trying not to pick a favorite favorite from this list because there are some really awesome ones, but if I had to, this might be the one. It’s no surprise to me that this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture. It’s one of the few movies I’ve seen that I would call beautiful. I’ll just sit there for awhile after the credits roll just taking it all in. Love it!
Sleepless in Seattle: Hanks and Ryan: the most classic romcom pairing of, well, ever. But this movie was my favorite of theirs. Still is. It tugs at your heart strings in all the right ways, and even though you know it’s a movie, you find yourself cheering for the characters. Well I do anyway!
The Proposal: Yet another Sandra Bullock film makes the list. And this one is so funny, it totally deserves its spot. Plus, it has Betty white AND Ryan Reynolds in it, so clearly it can’t go wrong. And it’s the only film that’s ever made me want to move to Alaska.
Did I miss any you love? What are your favorites?

Ever After with Drew Barrymore!!! One of my all time favorite romcoms. And for an older romantic drama, you can’t beat Somewhere in Time. Oh my gosh… Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour in the height of their careers. One of my most favorite movies.

“A Room with a View” (swoon), “Sense and Sensibility”, and ” A Midsummer Night’s Dream ” (1999 version)…. <3

I’ve seen it 3-4 times. I love that one!!

One I’d add: It’s Complicated, with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin. Sweet, funny, romantic. (And on a completely unrelated note, her garden in that movie is to die for! Amazing!! Multiple raised beds, very OCD. Lol. Too bad it only gets a couple of minutes of airtime!!)

I just watched a funny, sweet, and VERY romantic movie called ‘In Your Eyes’. “Two seemingly unconnected souls from different corners of the United States make a telepathic bond that allows them to see, hear and feel the other’s experiences, creating a bond that apparently can’t be broken”. You can find it on Netflix. 😉

“Love, Actually” my all time favorite!

100% agree! It is one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen and super sweet too. I love that it has several love stories in 1 movie, there is a love story for every situation in it lol. Love Liam Neeson so much 🙂
