Witness recently popped up on my Amazon Prime Movies feed and the HH and I watched it after dinner a few nights ago. Do you remember that movie? Can you believe it was filmed in 1985? Holy cow man, that’s over 30 years ago!!! Some days I feel like I’m getting so old. 😉
I know Witness is not the normal type of movie I feature in my Friday Night at the Movies series, but it’s a classic and I just had to share for those of you Harrison Ford fans out there. Ahh the 80’s and 90’s movies, I miss them.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I’ve had a thing for Harrison Ford ever since Star Wars! I had a crush on Mark Hamill
At first, but realized Harrison was my real preference!
Witness is one of his great movies. He is a hero, but not in the Indiana Jones way. It is a little window into the Amish community, and I think, done in a respectful way. I saw movies a lot more in that era, and overall enjoyed them more.

…and Viggo Mortensen is in it, too!

Love Viggo!

I’ve watched The Witness about five times, and am struck each time how it incorporates heart-stopping drama, humor, and then juxtaposes the lives of “the English” and “the Amish” allowing the viewer to come to his own conclusions about the conflicting ways of living. And what a job of casting! I confess there are one or two parts where I prefer to hide under my blouse… Personally I’m glad you listed it Mavis because it IS a classic, as has been said!

I was 9 years old when this movie came out… My parents were very cautious about what we watched, but the memo did not get to the neighbor teens who were babysitting us.. This movie scared the bejezus out of me.. I was terrified of bathroom stalls and people being able to see through the cracks for the longest time! Even more.. I live on Ohio- which has one of the largest Amish populations… and would often see Amish at our local Hospitals… I never told my mom thought b/c I was afraid we would lose the cool sitters! lol
I never watched this movie again…I might need to be watching it this weekend!
