Last week The Girl and I were in Seattle so we decided to pop by the Grand Central Bakery and Cafe in the Pioneer District while we were in town. A few of you have raved about their baked good this year so we decided to check it out.
The bakery is located in the old and historic Grand Central Arcade and the setting could not be more perfect.
If you ever find yourself near the waterfront, or ferry terminal, it’s worth the few blocks it takes to walk to the cafe because the homemade bread, pastries, hand pies and morning rolls all smelled amazing.
Rustic stuffing. Hmmm. Kinds of looks like bread crumbs to me, but hey.
Frozen cookie dough, pie crusts, bread dough and chicken pot pies all ready to take home.
I had the pear tart {and a London Fog}.
The Girl had an enormous slice of coffee cake and you know what? They were both DELICIOUS! The setting, staff and selection was all spot on. We’ll be back!

There is a Grand Central down by SeaTac as well (in Burien), that’s the one I go to. Smells heavenly from a block away! At work we order our department lunches from a place called Homegrown and half of why is because they use Grand Central breads (they source everything locally, actually).
Not a single bad experience at Grand Central yet!

my son used to drive for them down here in Portland. I was lucky enough to score day old bread and rolls- Yummy!!!

I was sad to be moving away from Petit Provence. The new neighborhood has a Grand Central, and I was disappointed. But after seeing that coffee cake, maybe I need to give them a chance 🙂

Try the Bread Farm in Bow/Edson (just north of Burlington/south of Bellingham). They use all organic flours!
You can also find them selling their wares at local farmer’s markets and co-ops in the area.
