(She had decided to start her annual Christmas cheesecakes a little early this year and was a little short on one very important ingredient…graham crackers… for the crust).
I told her I didn’t have any graham crackers… but I did have 2 Kebbler graham cracker crusts that she could have… Before she could ask what I wanted to trade for… I blurted out…”I’d be happy to trade for any sort of fresh fruit or vegetables”…
This is what she showed up at my door with…
4 spotted bananas and something called Broccoli Slaw…
Hmmm… it looks like I will be baking some banana bread tomorrow…
And for the broccoli slaw… that looks like tomorrows lunch!
Here’s a little thing you should know about Mrs. Hillbilly…
She is totally against high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated soybean oils…
So trading with her at times can be a little tricky…
SHE DOUBLE CHECKS EVERYTHING I try and trade with her…
So when she spied the word hydrogenated in the graham cracker crust…
I was quick to point out that SHE wasn’t eating the cheesecakes…
She was giving them away…
Crisis diverted.

Oh… and if you want more proof…
Here’s a little trade we made last week…
Last week I was out of Brown Sugar…
So I grabbed a jar of Pasta Sauce and headed over to Mrs. Hillbilly’s house…
She told me they didn’t eat Ragu because it has
high fructose corn syrup in it…Ha!
Check again woman…
“Oh… well, I guess we can eat this… thanks Mavis”
