I’ve been a little obsessed with sprouts lately. Up until a few weeks ago I had never thought about growing sprouts indoors. I mean, aren’t hippies the only ones who grow things like sprouts, wheat grass and mung beans?
Have you ever grown sprouts?
Before you can actually start your sprouts you’ll need to disinfect the seeds by placing them in a mixture of 2% bleach solution {1 cup water to 1tsp. bleach} for 15 minutes. From there you simply rinse the seeds thoroughly and you are ready to go.
After rinsing the seeds place them in a quart jar and cover with water about 3 times their depth. Place a bit of cheesecloth or muslin over the top of the jar.
Your seeds will look like this after just 12 hours.
After the initial soak you will then rinse your seeds, cover with water, swirl, and then carefully drain the water out.
You want the seeds to be moist but not sitting in a pool of water. To achieve this simply prop your quart jar up a little on one end.
After a few days your sprouts will look like this.
In about 5-6 days your sprouts will be ready to eat.
Now, was that easy or what?
I grew Sprouts {Sandwich Mix} seeds from Botanical Interests. You can find them HERE.

Yes, I’ve grown sprouts! I had forgotten about them, but when I was a kid, we used to grow them in a mason jar with a screened lid. Boy, were they ever delicious on a sandwich. Hmmm, maybe I’ll do that again. Thanks for the reminder!
