Last week I splurged and purchased 2 of the Sharing Spree $5 for $10 Oroweat Outlet Store deals. The deal is no longer available, but I basically paid $10 out of pocket for a $20 store credit. Well yesterday, Monkey Boy and The Girl and I redeemed the credit.
This was our first time a the Oroweat Bakery Outlet. We could not believe the selection that was available!
We were able to get
- 8 dozen bagels
- 7 loaves of bread
- 3 bags of sandwich thins {which I would never normally buy because I think they are dumb}
- 2 boxes of doughnuts {1 box is MIA thanks to the HH running off with it}
All of this bread for only $10. That’s only $.50 per package! Ummm I may not be a rocket scientist or anything, but I think I saved a ton of dough on this deal. And the next time an offer like this comes around on Sharing Spree, I’ll be buying again.
Have YOU ever been to a bakery outlet before? Are the deals always this good? Holy crap! What have I been missing all these years?

I found out about bakery outlets a few years ago and have continued visiting. Their prices are SO much cheaper than retail stores. Most of the time the expiration dates are within 1-2 days of the purchase date which isn’t bad at all. Then I put the bread in my freezer and it keeps for another month 🙂 It’s a Win/Win situation.

Yes – you have been missing out and yes, the deals are always this good. We have the Franz Outlet here in Idaho and it’s pretty cheap. They have a big blowout in October where they take everything down to 25-cents for like 3 days or something. It’s awesome. Used to love the Entenmann’s outlet back in California – we don’t even have that brand here at all. And Entenmann’s makes some gooood sweets. LOL@ the sammie thins being dumb. I think I agree because I bought them once at Costco and then never again.

I JUST went to a Oroweat outlet yesterday in CA 🙂 I spent $10.64 for 4 loaves of wheat bread (the kind you have pictures above) 3 packages of Tortilla’s and some bob mill’s corn meal 🙂

Love the bread outlets. We have both Oroweat and Franz near us & there are always great deals. Franz has other products as well as their bread like Reser products. So fun to stop by and see.
During the school year we go through a loaf of bread every 1.5 days so spending $1. max on a loaf saves us a ton of dough 🙂
Does the Washington Oroweat have punch cards for free stuff? In Oregon every time you spend $1. you get a punch and once you’ve spent x amount of $ you get something free. Usually either a bread or doughnuts.

Mavis – Where have you been? Master Bread Outlet, Sara Lee Outlet, Holsum Outlet, Pepperidge Farm Outlet, Hostess Outlet, Country Hearth Outlet… Before food allergies, this was THE first place I would locate after a move to a new city. Nothing like a box of Ding Dongs or Zingers for 75 cents. Definitely see if they have a punch card also the next time you go. And ask what day/when they usually get their stuff in. Sometimes bagels might only come in 2x a week. When the recession first hit there was a story about some bread makers needing to send bread directly to the outlet store first because there was such a rush on thrifty shoppers. Usually the bread goes to a supermarket, then gets picked up a few days before expiration and taken to the outlet store.

We bought a freezer specifically for bread. I go once a month and spend about $26 on a trunk load of bread from the Oroweat Outlet. The bread so much better for you than the cheapy bread at the grocery, and cheaper too! Win-win!
Gwen says
P.S. make sure you get the punch card they offer. You get a FREE loaf of bread or donuts or buns…. with every 10 items you buy 🙂

There was an Entenmann’s outlet near my old apartment. I didn’t think it was that great. Things were only 30-50% off and I doubt they allowed coupons. I have been to the Pepperidge Farm outlet as well and that’s good but not great either. Plus, that outlet store was in Maine so the tax was crazy! Not like in Massachusetts, where we don’t pay tax on food, or New Hampshire where there’s no tax at all!

I remember going with my mom as a child to the bread outlet store and I’ve continued to buy my bread there as an adult. I can’t bring myself to pay grocery store prices for bread when I know how little I can get them for at the outlet store. I have previously bought the Franz vouchers from Living Social and also bought this voucher from Orowheat. Makes for an awesome deal on bread.
The sandwich thins are great for burgers. Less bulk than a traditional bun.

Hey Nicole…I too have childhood memories of going to the bread outlet with my mother.
I live 1.5 miles from a Franz outlet now…love it.
Buy and freeze what you won’t use right away.
My favorite items to purchase at the outlet are bagels and 100% whole wheat bread.

I love the bakery outlets! We have bread frozen right now. You will love it. Our bakery outlet has a discount on Friday because they are not open on the weekends.

All bakery outlets have closed in my area. It made a huge impact on our grocery budget because I now pay double what I used to for sandwich bread. Hope for the rest of you that closing these wonderful little stores isn’t a trend.

I visited the Franz outlet in Mill Creek for the first time a few weeks ago. They were giving every customer a free bag of onion buns! Not sure if a freebie is standard there or if they just were really trying to get rid of those buns. But I did notice a sign stating if you bring in 6 BoxTops you can get a free pack of English Muffins. Woot! I always have plenty of boxtops laying around!

I knew once you tried it…you would love it!

Our Oroweat in Kennewick, WA, always has a $1 section. I’ve gotten 30 ct. tortillas for $1!! Plus lots of other finds (similar to your pic) and, yes, please get a punch card. Ours earns us a free item from the $1 section. That’s the first Oroweat deal I’ve ever seen. I was so excited to see it!! Now, I hope they’ll have a few more. 🙂

I got a punch card! If this deal comes around again I am totally buying it!

Our Franz Outlet in Boise is great. I especially hope to find the big loaf of Innkeeper or the Milton’s bread, both from Costco, there. Our store has great deals on Monday like 4/$5. They have the sandwich thins there too. Lately their factory in Nampa has been making brioche bread and rolls and hamburger buns. Mmmmm they are good and only $1.25 fresh. Ban the HH from the bread aisle at Costco.

Brioche bread sound yummy!

I LOVE the Franz outlet in Lacey (WA)! I Pretty much exclusively shop from the 5/$6 racks and get great ‘no high fructose corn syrup’ and even organic bread products…if I’m lucky they have their specialty breads (their cinnamon swirl bread is the bomb because they leave out the raisins!). The best part is that after you pay the nice ladies say “grab some free items off the rack by the door on your way out”!! Also, they seem to frequently have customer appreciation days/weeks where they marks everything down even more. OH, and my daughter loves going there because they always give her a free snack-size bag of cookies or crackers 🙂 Yes, the selection varies each day…and yes, the expiration dates vary as well, but overall I LOVE it!

I LOVE bakery outlets. Unfortunately the one here in town closed…? But there is still one in the next town over that’s good. Great deals…but I’m thinking you may have hit on the super duper markdown day!!
I’m glad you mentioned thinking sandwich thins are dumb…I think so too! ha!
Mavis says
Snack Thins are totally dumb! 🙂

I wish we had an Oroweat outlet here. I could live on their Buttermilk bread and I typically get it at Costco when I can’t live without it. I try to make my own bread, but its hard to beat bread for .50 or $1, but maybe making your own could be something you add to the long list of awesome things you do!

We have several bakery outlets here but I wouldn’t buy the stuff. If is all the old things that are about to expire. I don’t see the attraction in that.
Patti says
Our bakery outlet closed 🙁 great prices. If you ask some of the outlets will give you bread for
the chickens. Never hurts to ask . We used to have a freezer full of chicken bread. Glad you found the outlet.

Mavis, this last time I went to the bread store (we go about once a month and especially love getting the Texas toast for french toast), they have a sign posted for different prices for animal consumption. I didn’t need a rack($22) or a cart ($6) but my chickens love bread so I got the 5 loaves for a dollar just to see what it was all about. The lady gave me 7 bags of bagels that had only expired the day or two before. So I froze a few and fed the “everything on ’em” kind to the chickens…can’t wait to see what they give me next time!
