My grocery goal for this past week was pretty simple. Eat from the pantry/freezer and don’t go over $10. Thanks to a few of you adding up my spending total for the year, I found out I had spent $938.31 so far. Add this week’s spending {$9.72} and it brings my total to $948.03 which leaves me with $251.97 or basically $12 a week for the rest of the year. So. I guess this means GAME ON. Right?
Main and Vine $5
Greek Gods Yogurt was on sale {still is actually} for just $2.50 a tub. The HH and The Girl LOVE this stuff. Monkey Boy and I think it’s smells like old gym socks.
Harbor Greens Market $4.72
Cantaloupes were on sale for $1 each, $0.99 a pound for broccoli, $0.99 a pound for pears, $0.33 for cucumbers and $1.00 a head for cauliflower.
Mrs. HB’s Garden – Free!
I also stopped by Mrs. HB’s place the other day to visit Lucy’s babies and went home with some fresh herbs, a leek and a dozen eggs. Mrs. HB and I made a deal earlier in the year that I would raise the her chicks for her {we’ve already handed them over} and she would keep us supplied with eggs for the rest of the year. I’m very glad I made that deal with her. 🙂
We also harvested tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, a few potatoes, beets and a few carrots out of the garden this past week as well.
Here are the meals I ate last week {minus the snacks}:Monday
Breakfast – Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with cream cheese
Lunch – Chicken, beets and peas {I was too lazy to make a salad}
Dinner – Waffle and sausage
Tuesday

I love how the occasional meal that you can’t remember is lunch. I often can’t remember what I had for lunch either 😉
I struggle with eating lunch at a time when I’m actually hungry, but not too close to dinner. I sometimes get so hungry between lunch and dinner that I grab a snack, and then I lose my enthusiasm for preparing dinner! Also, the hellacious heat in SoCal makes eating more of a snack type of meal than cooking hot food.

If anyone can do this, you can. You got this! I WISH we had the deals you have there – here. The best deal I can get on Broccoli OR cauliflower is $2,50 each. 🙁 No deals in this part of the US… 🙁
