I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

I have smart readers. I have resourceful readers. I have crafty readers. I know all this to be true because I’ve seen it through your comments and your emails. But I just want to focus on the crafty part for a hot second.

My original idea evolved, and I am focusing on hand crocheted items. My shop name is inspired by my love of chickens. I am adding items daily this month so favorite my shop to get notifications.

  9. Hi Mavis, I have been a long time reader of the blog. What a great idea to feature the shops. My shop was started last year when I moved from New England to Florida. I had to keep the Christmas spirit alive even when the weather was hot so I started my shop and make decor items for the holidays using vintage jewelry that I got from my mom. I love taking the beautiful pieces and making them into something that everyone can enjoy.

    I hope you feature my shop this year. I didn’t make the cut last year but hopefully I will this time! Thanks!

  17. I have always loved to sew and majored in design in college. I sell handmade decorative throw pillows in my Etsy shop Islandia Designs. I also do custom orders if someone has their own fabric or wants a unique size. It is fun to see my pillows travel all over the world to find their home!
