Being frugal doesn’t mean that you have to hole yourself up in a bunker somewhere and cut the outside world off, using only sticks and mud to meet your basic needs. It really is about getting your money to stretch as far as possible. I mean, when it really comes down to it, your money is a representation of your time–time you might have rather spent with your kids, or traveling, or {insert favorite past time here}, so just giving it away is like not respecting your own time.
Shopping smart is one way to get the almighty dollar to stretch far enough to help you live within your means…hopefully with a little extra jingle in your pocket. Timing your purchases around yearly sales is one of the ways I try to shop smart. Sometimes, that means going without until the price is the best, other times, it means stocking up early, so when I do need it, I paid a reasonable price. Either way, shelling out extra cash in an impulsive moment for something you can get at a fraction of the cost is just crazy talk.
Knowing what’s on sale, what’s in season, and what you should be able to find on clearance each month really helps you plan. How do you know? That’s why you have me…
Promotions and Holidays in July
Right out of the gate comes 4th of July. Most sales for the holiday will have started in June, but they will continue to run right up to the 4th. July is National Ice Cream month, so expect to see lots of sales. Toward the end of the month, you’ll start seeing sales on Back-to-School items.
Seasonal Fruit and Vegetables You Will Typically Find on Sale in July
July is where it is at for produce. Summer crops are in and at peak flavor. You’ll likely find deals on apricots, basil, beets, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherries, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, corn, green beans, watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, blueberries, raspberries, and plums.
Annual Sales and Deals You Can Expect in July
Toward the end of the month, Back-to-School sales will start to pop up. Look for deals not only on school supplies, but kids’ clothing, socks, shoes, etc. Comb the ads carefully, because if you are willing to shop the sales, you can get great deals each week on supplies, rather than just buying them all in one swoop.
Clearance Items to Be On the Lookout For in July
Swimwear will start to go on clearance this month. You should be able to find deep discounts on all red, white and blue decor leftover from the 4th too. Most stores will start to mark down their summer clothing–though, wait until the end of the month before you start to see any major savings. Flip-flops are usually SUPER clearanced by the end of the month.
Now go forth and save.
