I love to travel the world. I love to see new places, try new things and explore other cultures. But my favorite thing about traveling is coming home. I love the country I call home. I am so grateful I not only live in a country where I can choose to come and go as I please, but that I also enjoy those little everyday freedoms we all take for granted.
I get to choose what I do for work. I get to choose the foods I eat. I get to choose where I live. I get to choose how & where to worship {or not, if that is what floats my boat}. I get to choose how to raise my kids and how many of those kids I’d like to have, at that. And I get to choose how many tons of produce I want to grow in my very own backyard! 🙂
In all of my travels, I have seen some truly incredible places. But at the end of the day, I am so grateful to live in America. Here’s hoping you pause today during your fireworks, your BBQs, your homemade ice cream, and reflect on how amazing it is to live in such a cool country.
I’m taking the rest of the day off to hang out with my crew. Enjoy your holiday. Eat some yummy food for me and don’t light yourself on fire.
Peace Out Girl Scouts,
~Mavis

I hope you have a great day too. it seems you are already thinking about what is important. it’s always good to take stock of those things and celebrate, even if it isn’t a holiday or if it’s only in a small way.

Thanks for your thoughts. Our little family discussed Independence Day before lighting fireworks. It was so nice to talk to our little 3 and 5 year-old kiddos.
