Sorry for ditching you guys today but I had to get the rest of my spring bulbs planted. This was the first time I’ve planted bulbs this late. It’s nearly Thanksgiving for Pete’s sake.
I planted daffodils, tulips, hyacinth, and anemones.
I used my empty terra cotta pots to plant tulips. The thing I love about planting bulbs in pots, is that if I need a last minute gift, I have one. If not, well then I get keep the plants myself.
I also planted the mint barrel with bulbs as well, and after covering the bulbs with dirt, I placed strawberry plants around the border.
Sure the potting bench looks a bit naked now, but just wait until spring. It will be alive with color.
I also planted a boatload of bulbs under the pear tree.
Have you ever planted anemone bulbs before?
It’s been about 10 years since I planted some, but man are they pretty, and perfect for floral displays. I planted a bag of 30 under each pear tree. I don’t normally plant red flowers, and they were not labeled, so I hope the red ones will blend in with all the blue, pink and white bulbs I’ve planted for spring. We’ll see. If not, I’ll just use the red ones for cut flowers.
Are all your spring bulbs planted? Did you plant anything unusual?

What’s wrong with red flowers in the garden? Do they attract a pest or something you not like?
Elizabeth says
We always make sure to have red in all the pots and beds. They attract hummingbirds and butterflies by the color. My son was out weeding my garden one day when he was in 6th ot 7th grade. He was wearing a red shirt and he came in the house to tell me the hummingbirds kept hovering around him. Always plant red flowers.

I was unable to plant my bulbs last fall due to health issues. Can I plant them now?
Mavis Butterfield says
What kind of bulbs Amanda? I’d plant them rather than toss them in the trash. Who knows… you might get lucky.
