Did you plant any annuals this spring? How are they doing?
Are they dying a sad, slow death like mine?
About the only thing left in my mini pallet flower garden are the hot pink geraniums and a few lonely petunias. The containers on my potting bench are looking pretty pathetic of you ask me.
But hey, there’s nothing a quick trip the the Home Depot can’t help right? YES, I went back!
Although I had planned on growing a few pansies for fall, I never got around to it. So since I was near the Home Depot anyway, I decided to swing by and pick up a few flowers so I could pimp out my potting bench for fall.
I kept it simple. Just pansies and ornamental cabbage.
I pulled out all the dying petunias, lobelia and mysterious white crunchy flowers and added them to the compost heap along the back fence. The Handsome can’t stand pansies. But I love them. And the garden is mine. He has the garage. So he can be pansy free in there if he wants to be.
Hello ornamental cabbage… You are pretty enough to eat!
Actually, did you know you CAN eat ornamental cabbage? Yep, it’s true.
I’ll have to keep that juicy bit of knowledge to myself though. Otherwise The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird will start picking off cabbage leaves and munching on them every time I ask her to water the garden, just to get back at me. Ahh teenagers…
Finished!
Be still me OCD heart. Everything is neat and tidy once again.
Peace Out Girl Scouts. I plan on spending my entire day in the garden. Happy Saturday!
