Today I’ll be working in the greenhouse to try to tidy things up a bit. Although the plants are growing strong, some of the leaves are beginning to die back and need to be trimmed. The tomato plants I have growing outside of the greenhouse are hanging in there, but I think I’m ready to toss the one on the right. I’ve only harvested 1 tomato from it and I only see one more {potential} tomato. So I think today is the day to heave it on to the compost pile.
When I went out this morning to snap a few pictures, I noticed Mr. Slug and a buddy were munching on my small kale plants I started from seed. I had no idea slugs like kale so much. Hmmm. Interesting.
Well, their feast didn’t last very long, because I picked them up and tossed them into the beer pool. As an act of kindness though I did give them a spinach leaf for their last meal {okay, not really the spinach leaf was stuck to them and I wasn’t going to remove it}.
If you look really close, you will notice a bunch or yellow/brown slime on the top right corner of the salsa container. Wahooo! It really does work. Slugs do like beer.
As far as what’s growing in the greenhouse these days? Well, we have cucumbers dangling from the ceiling, sugar snap peas beginning to climb up poles, tomatoes, Swiss chard, peppers, kale, spinach, lettuce and basil.
I will give you a grand tour of everything we are growing in our backyard tomorrow. But for now, I’ve got to get out of this bathrobe and get some real clothes on so I can get some work done.
Peace Out Girl Scouts, it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day.

If you don’t have room for a large greenhouse to grow vegetables in the winter, check out the line of Flower House Pop Up Greenhouses Amazon has in stock. Before we ever invested in a glass greenhouse, we had one of these {and still do}. I highly recommend them.

Where did you get your greenhouse?

Those are the biggest ickiest and fattest slugs I have ever seen! We have little slugs here, like maybe an inch long at most!
