This afternoon I went out to the garden to plant bulbs in the future fairy garden. I planted white and pink tulips and tiny grape hyacinth bulbs at the base of the tree, and about 30 more grape hyacinth in the center of the tree.
Tomorrow, I think I’ll go hunt down some moss and plant a lush path and add small stepping stones in front of the tree and try to find something to make a fairy door with. Have you ever made one? Do you have any suggestions?
After planting some bulbs in the fairy garden, Black Fatty and I pulled out a bunch of recycled containers and started filling them with dirt and bulbs.
I want to be able to plant the remaining bulbs in random pockets throughout the backyard. But since I still have a quite a ways to go before the backyard is fully cleared, I decided to go ahead and plant as many bulbs as I could in plastic pots and seed trays for now. I’ve seem bulbs sold in flats like this in the spring at Costco before, so I think it should work.
After today’s planting, I am now down to 312 bulbs. Mostly daffodils and allium bulbs. Let’s hope I can get the rest of them planted tomorrow, and be done with this crazy project.
Note to self – Never purchase 2,000 + bulbs again just because you find them on sale. Well, not unless you have a hottie of a gardener who will plant them for you while you sit on the deck and watch.

I’m guessing alot of it will be like wooden doll house furnature and such. Maybe look up a couple books on home made doll houses? You might find one or two with patterns or something. There’s always the good will’s toy section. They might have some wooden doll furnature. I would suggest going to a hobby shop to look for things but they’re expensive. Maybe ebay?

This really made me laugh Mavis. I too bought oodles of tulip, daffodil and hyacinth bulbs this weekend at Home Depot because I found them on………. clearance. I then found myself ordering yards of dirt so that I can have the perfect place to plant them all at the last minute before it gets to cold. Ha ha ha!!! The plastic pots is a wonderful idea. You rock!

I don’t have just a fairy door, I have an entire fairy house! Was made with repurposed wood, a few silk leaves for shingles, moss and and silk flowers put here and there. There is a hole in it for the fairies to go in and out. As it is in my house, they didn’t need the door. And I keep it by my front window with the garden fairy statue that says Welcome. But for a door, use repurposed wood and your imagination. For it to work, all you need is that and to believe in magic.

Right after I read your post. Oh well I did find some garlic really thought it would be gone. I need to get it planted so I am going to plant the cloves in pots sense we might be moving before spring arrives and sorry the new home owners are not going to get my garlic.
If you are wanting to do doll house furniture for your Fairy House you can make alot of the items from things around your home when you order a pizza from some chains or mom and pop pizza places you get the round plastic item that keeps the pizza from sticking to the top of the box can be used as a table, some buttons when tuned over and they have a concurve back are plates, I used make my chairs from twiga and string, tables are from sawed off the ends of different size branches. That should get you started. Let me look threw some of my doll house books that shows how to make things for the house
