Today was a good day. And I’m glad, because yesterday kind of stunk.
The Italian Plumber Who Lives with his Mother was suppose to install the kitchen sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher and a toilet and sink in the powder room.
But the faucet didn’t fit and there was clamp that went MIA for the dishwasher. 🙁
I had the HH pick out a new facet on his way home {above} so hopefully when the plumber comes back at the end of the week he’ll have a clamp for the dishwasher and I’ll FINALLY be able to wash dishes in the kitchen sink like a normal person.
I tell ya, washing dishes in the bathroom gets old. Real.Quick.
On a happier note… We have barstools! This means we don’t have to eat on the floor anymore like a bunch of weirdos. Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I don’t know what the heck I went to Target for this morning but I walked out of there with a can of grey paint. How does that even happen? While I was browsing I wandered over to an aisle with a bunch of peel and stick wall decals {and paint}. And in that moment I somehow decided painting the inside of my pantry grey would be a good idea.
So imagine my surprise when I opened the can and the paint was PINK!
Clearly hopped up on too much caffeinated tea, I was like “Okay, it’s sign, I guess I’m suppose to paint the pantry pink…”
But after a quick stir the paint was back to grey. 🙁 I was kind of bummed.
What do you think? Don’t they look cool? Now all I need to do is unpack our food.
Weeeee….

How odd! I would have loved that pink! It was a fun color.

Mavis, everything is looking so good! I’m proud of how you are rolling with the bumps and keeping a smile on your face.
Way to go, Woman!

Hmm-Still on my first cuppa and a tiny tablet on the road… You wrote pantry, bit my brain processed cabinets. Everything looks great from this end. Sorry for tne set backs, but you ares powering on! My kitchen is on the north side of the house. When I made new doors and refinished the dark cabinets, I went with a much lighter stain and painted the insides and undersides an off white. Some friends started off skeptical but really liked the results. The kitchen is much cheerier. If you have been wanting white cabinets, I suspect you will love this new kitchen.
Best!

What a GREAT job you are doing! It’s a tricky thing to LIVE in the house when renovations are going on. Hang in there….it will soon be over. Hugs, Camille

I’ve been eyeballing similar barstools. Where did you get? Do you love? Well-built? I had some wooden saddle stools that all fell apart in 6 months, but I really want ones that fit all the way under the counter like that. Those are very cute!!

Target Carlisle Metal Bar Stool. They are 29″ high and I LOVE the height!!! You have to buy the BARSTOOLS on line though as they only offer the “counter stool” in store. The counter stools are only 24″ {not tall enough in my opinion}. And yes, they are very sturdy! I love them.
Kari says
Silly question, but they come in a two-pack, yet it looks like you have three. You must have stashed another somewhere, or am I missing something
Mavis Butterfield says
Nope. They come in a 2 pack. I have the other one stashed in the office.

Ugh. Fingers. Anyway, remind me to tell you about the time I lived in a basement while we remodeled the house. Yes. My in-law’s basement. With a two year old and newborn. And then, halfway through, just go ahead and throw in knee surgery for kicks. Let me tell you… a positive attitude will save you every time! Way to go, lady!
